Dinner and a Couple Lies
Ace
Summer and I managed to find
a cheap-looking diner not that far
from where we were when we
got off the bus. It was a cute
little diner. We stepped inside.
After we got sat down, a waitress
came to our little booth and smiled.
My, you two are out a bit late, don’t you think?
I smiled back at her. “I don’t think
so, myself. We were coming back
from the movie theater, you know?
We got kinda hungry and came by.”
She nodded, believing it.
That was lie number one.
So, what do you girls want?
She handed us a couple of
menus and waited, watching
us as we picked out two
burgers and a shared set
of fries for the two of us.
We got a large soda, too.
“So what do we do now?”
I asked Summer, looking
her in the eyes. She probably
had a better idea than I did.
Well, she said, we should
be able to find a way to
get further from just here.
We’ll think of something.
At least she was being positive.
The waitress came back
with our food, sitting it
