1.) Get Aden and Rosie.

2.) Move far, far away.

Falling in love wasn't part of the plan..

“Val?” My older brother asked from the door way. My head snapped up to meet his crystal eyes, that were identical to mine. “Ready?”

I sighed heavily and pushed myself to the door, he griped my arm, stopping me. “At least try to make friends. Okay?”

I nodded. He let me go and followed me out the front door to his car.

“Why do I even have to go?” I complained as I strapped my seat belt around me.

He sighed, “Valarie, come on if you don't go I'll lose custody of you and then the social worker will never let us adopt Aden and Rosie.” I sighed again. I could do it for them. They needed us. Aden and Rosie were our younger siblings, Aden was seven and Rosie, four. We were split up when our parents died.

Three months ago, William, my brother, adopted me. I am sixteen while he just turned eighteen. The social worker wouldn't give us Aden or Rosie, because they want to see if he could care for me first. I missed them like crazy and I would do anything to make us a family again.

He pulled into the school lot. I looked over at him and gave a small smile, “for Aden and Rosie.”

He smiled, “Hopeful they'll be here soon.”

I shook my head, “They will be here soon.”

I jumped out of the car and looked up at the older looking school. It was made of solid bricks and older looking windows. I turned around and gave a wave to Will, as he was wait for me to go in. Did he really think I would mess this up? I wanted them just as much as him.

Aden's short blond hair, his shining light blue eye, and Rosie's wavy blond hair, and her darker blue eyes, flashed in my mind. I took a deep breath as I pushed open the door to my new school.

I walked into the small office, an older looking lady looked up at me and smiled gently, “May I help you?”

“I'm Valarie Johnson, I'm new.”

“Of coarse dear,” she said getting up handing me some papers.

“Thanks,”

“Have a wonderful day.” She told me going back to typing on her computer.

I walked down the hall, studying my schedule. I heard whispers of the people in the hall, I felt my face heating up know I was the cause. I refused to look at anyone.

“Did you see what she's wearing?” I heard as I walked past.

I looked down and noticed I was wearing a gray over sized sweatshirt and dark jeans. I know it's not fashionable, but it's comfy and familiar and that's all I wanted. I snuck a peak at the girls who were whisper about me.

They were wearing skirts and slutty tops. I rolled my eyes and walked into a room that was marked English. I handed my slip of paper to the teacher, he sighed heavily and told me his name was Mr. Erickson. I picked a seat in the back as he said I could sit anywhere.

I was studying my papers as the bell rang, finally looking up I looked at my fellow classmates, most of the girls were wearing slutty outfits, just as the girls in the hall. What kind of school is this?

The teacher began with a lecture on a book they were reading when a guy, about six foot, well built, with brown tousle hair, and shocking honey colored eyes, walked in with a cocky grin. “Ah, Mr. Mason, finally gracing us with your presence.” Mr. Erickson said sarcastically.

“I thought you guys suffered enough.” the whole room laughed and he sat down in the front.

“See me after class.”

“Mr. Erickson, punishing me for being late for your class, your going to make me stay after? Come on I'll be late for the rest of my classes.”

“Not my problem,” Mr. Erickson said, now with a cocky grin on his face.

The guy was silent shaking his head as the teacher droned on with his lesson.

The bell rang, “Ms. Johnson,” Mr. Erickson called me to the front. The boy's head snapped up to stare at me.

“Yes?” I asked my voice shaking, what did I do?

“Avery here,” he gestured to the boy sitting next to him, “is going to show you around.”

My eyes flickered to the boy, Avery, who looked shocked. I shook my head, “I'm fine-”

“My duty as your first period teacher, is to find you a guide.”

“She doesn't need-”

“You will do as I say.” He rose his voice.

“Yes sir,” he said harshly shaking his head as he stood up, he walked out of the door.

“Good luck.” Mr. Erickson whispered as I unwillingly followed Avery out the door.
