I was pleased to know that when I woke up in the morning that my cold had completely gone away, but my head was pounding from the amount that Nathan and I smoked yesterday. My throat was rough and tighter than usual, I struggled to take a deep breath in before standing up. I quickly brushed out my hair before throwing it up and sliding on some clean clothes, I had woken up just on time and had a good 15 minutes before I needed to be in class. I packed my bag and placed it on my shoulder before stepping out of my room. People in the halls were doing the usual, rushing around, getting ready and arguing over who's towel is who's.
I made my way down the hall until I came to Max's room, I knocked softly three times on the door before she opened it, her eyes were tired and her hair was messy,
"Morning," She smiled weakly, I pulled the medicine packet out of my bag,
"I have your medicine," I said handing the box to her, "Thank you so much,"
"I hope you're feeling better," She nodded before I waved her goodbye and kept walking through the dorms until I made it outside. I almost briefly stopped walking when I saw Nathan leaning against a pole holding a cigarette in between his lips. He dropped it and walked over to me when he saw me,
"You look fucking great this morning, Elizabeth,"
"I can literally smell your sarcasm," I scoffed, rolling my eyes as we continued walking through the grounds,
"Are you still high?" He laughed, "I've never seen someone smoke so fucking much before,"
"You don't know what I'm capable of, Prescott," I looked over at him, his eyes were red and puffy, not crying puffy, just, high puffy, "You hit it up again this morning? Jesus Christ Nathan, you're so fucking high,"
"I may have underestimated you, Martin," He acknowledged before he stopped dead in his tracks and diverted his course towards a couple of his friends. I laughed quietly and continued walking towards the main building, once I pushed passed the heavy doors and finally made my way inside I was stopped by a voice calling out behind me,
"Elizabeth," I turned around and saw familiar blue hair walk up to me, she engulfed me in a brief hug, "Jesus Christ you smell like an ash tray," I laughed softly, "Want to skip like the old days?"
"I'm already inside the building, Chloe," I sighed, she rolled her eyes,
"No one saw you," She smiled before grabbing my hand and quickly exiting the building. We walked swiftly towards the parking lot and attempted to avoid all teachers, which was rather successful. Chloe and I opened the car doors and slid inside before she switched on the engine and skidded out of the lot and onto the roads.
"Your car still smells like whiskey and cigarette's, Chloe," I sighed as I wound down the window,
"Some thing's just don't change," She laughed before looking over at me quickly, "Jesus Christ," She sighed, "Surely getting high is not working well with your meds, Beth,"
"Oh," I laughed softly, "I'm not taking those anymore. I'm better now," I lied, she nodded slowly. Chloe drove through the town slowly and I was surprised that it was rather empty, whenever Rachel, Chloe and I used to skip school the town would always be full of people and we would struggle to find a place where we wouldn't get caught. "Where are we going?" Chloe smiled,
"A place I've never taken you before." She paused for a few moments and I looked over at her, her eyebrows were scrunched together and her knuckles had turned white as she gripped the steering wheel tightly,
"Penny for your thoughts?" I smiled, she rolled her eyes before letting out a small smile,
"I saw you walking with Nathan," I sighed, already knowing where this was going, "He's not safe, Beth. You shouldn't be around him,"
"Then you shouldn't be around me," I retaliated,
"You know that's not what I mean," She let out a breath, "He's dangerous, is what I'm trying to say."

It wasn't long until Chloe had pulled up on a gravel road and we were parked in front of a long metal gate, she switched off the ignition and unbuckled her seatbelt, I copied her and we both hopped out of the scratched up car,
"Rachel and I used to come here all the time," She smiled fondly, I walked over to her and wrapped my arm around her waist, her head rested on top of mine as we looked out onto the junk yard, "She would get so excited about coming here. I think she liked being so far away from everyone and knowing that no one had any desires of spending time out here. This was our space,"
"She loved you, Chloe," I smiled and Chloe wrapped her arm around my shoulder and pulled me in closer, "So much." There was a long pause as we took in the surroundings, the quiet chirp of the birds and distant rattles of the train tracks in the distant filled our minds with foggy memories.
Chloe had dragged me through the old junk yard and we made our way into a small square building with no doors or windows,
"This is where Rachel and I would come and get wasted," She smiled fondly gesturing towards the small room in front of us, there was graffiti on the walls, jewellery and old  CD's scattered across the small amounts of furniture, I took a seat on the couch and Chloe sat next to me, lifted her legs and placed them on my lap before pulling out a cigarette and lighting it, "Want?" She asked passing it over to me, I shook my head, certainly not needing to put anymore strain on my lungs today. "Why the fuck were you going to class so high, Beth?" She asked after a few moments,
"I didn't get much sleep last night," I looked over at her, she looked unconvinced,
"Looks like you went to sleep high. You know how dangerous that is for you," She breathed in the cigarette smoke and exhaled before I replied,
"I underestimated how long I would be out for," I lied, again, "It was 11 when I got back to my dorm,"
"You know I don't appreciate it when you lie to me, Elizabeth."
