It took me a few moments to recover from the shock of the loud bang, and I was eventually on my feet again. I looked around the junkyard but there was no source of where the bang had come from, that was what I thought until I saw two headlights where Nathan had parked his car. He's leaving me, I thought. Anger coursed through my bones as I watched the car reverse into the road, that was until the headlights turned and shined upon Nathan's car. He was still here. My heart dropped. I quickly ran down to where he had been recovering Rachel's body, I was careful not to slip on the mud around me but that care was the least of my worries when I came to the scene in front of me. Nathan was there, next to Rachel, blood leaking out of his stomach, his head slowly turned towards me. I rushed towards him at an inconceivable speed and fell to my knees once I was next to him. My hands shakily cupped his cheeks as he weakly looked up at me,
"Nathan," I sobbed out, my hand quickly pressing on his wound trying to stop the blood from rushing out even more,
"I'm sorry," He choked, I shook my head furiously,
"No, you're not allowed to be. Please just stay, I'll call for help," It was obvious he used all his strength to shake his head,
"I deserve to be here, don't call anyone." He slowly managed to get out, tears shook my body as I looked down at him, "It's what I want," I softly placed my head on his chest and sobbed uncontrollably. His weak heartbeat echoed throughout my ears and his lungs were slowly giving up,
"Nathan," I cried,
"Beth, please," He whispered, "Leave me here, I want to die like this,"
"You deserve more," I whispered as I removed my head from his cold body and looked down at him. His face was sickly pale and his eyes red, the rain harshly whipped across his face as he struggled to keep his eyes open, I removed his jacket from my shaking body and used it as a shield to protect his face. He weakly smiled up at me, I struggled to smile back,
"This is more," He wheezed, "I love you, Elizabeth," A large sob crawled up my throat,
"I love you, Nathan," I leant down towards him and pressed a soft kiss against his cold, blue lips. His small smile was still present in the edges of his lips,
"You make me happy," His throat was growing tighter as his voice got quieter. I smiled down as him as tears streamed out of my eyes and onto his cheeks, disguising in between the droplets of rain. His eyes slowly closed, chest stopped raising, and lips stopped smiling.
"Nathan," I whispered, "Nathan," I repeated louder as my cries began to escape my body harsher, "No, no, no. Nathan, not now, I need you," I sobbed, my chest collapsed and I fell into his cold neck. His body was empty and silent, his heart no longer beating, and lungs no longer wheezing. I slowly removed my hand off his wound, and stroked his cheek, my fingers leaving a soft trail of blood across his pale face. I stayed next to him until my fingertips grew numb, his body had grown cold and I was certain there was no sign of life in him anymore. I closed my eyes as my hands slowly made their way down his body and into his pockets, slowly removing his keys from them and putting them into the jacket he gave me as I threw the damp material over my body. I pressed one soft kiss to his cold face before I slowly and weakly stood up, the sobs I had been crying had grown painful, my head was pounding and chest was strained. Before I turned around and left Arcadia Bay, I took one last look at him, his body almost identically posed to Rachel's, his skin ghostly white, lips blue and body empty.  He was gone. I was lost.
