I had been helping Victoria set up the pool all afternoon in anticipation for the party, I was still certain on not going, and I wasn't in the mood. Nathan and I parted ways once we got back from a sufficiently awkward breakfast, he hasn't texted me all day and Victoria said she hadn't seen him since yesterday. It was like he had momentarily dropped off the face of the planet.
"Hello? Are you even listening?" Victoria waved her hand in front of my face,
"Sorry," I shook my head, she rolled her eyes and laughed softly,
"Thanks for helping today," Victoria smiled before wrapping me in a small hug, "I hope I see you tonight!" She called out as I began to walk back to my dorm. It was a Friday afternoon and the campus was rather quiet, I assumed everyone was in their dorms getting ready for tonight- Well, everyone who was invited I guess. Victoria and the Vortex Club had set a guest list and even a V.I.P room for the club. I thought it was petty.
My dorm was cold when I entered it so I threw on a light cardigan before falling down onto my bed and falling into a light slumber. My sleep was light and I had spent the last few hours tossing and turning until my phone was obnoxiously buzzing on my bedside table, I groaned and sat up,

Elizabeth, please come see me tonight. I need to talk to you. Please push everything aside. This is important. - Chloe.
I'll be at the party at 8:30. Meet me there.

The bass was vibrating across the lawn as I walked towards the pool building, I was anxious to enter and to speak to Chloe, I was getting annoyed already just thinking about her talking to me about Nathan. I slowly made my way though the crowd of people, narrowly missing the pool, and found my way to the long curtain that divided the pool. I pushed it aside and stepped through, people were hanging out on the couch, standing around the bar and dancing. I quickly walked over to the bar and ordered a drink, if Chloe was going to talk to me, I'd need to have a drink beforehand.
"Elizabeth!" Victoria drunkenly screamed loudly, multiple people turned and looked at her walk towards me, "You made it!" She squealed pulling me into a tight hug, I lightly hugged her back. I nodded once she let go of me and look a large sip of my drink,
"Do you know where Nathan is?" I asked over the music, she nodded and pointed towards the back of the room,
"Down there!" She replied, I thanked her and began walking towards him. He was leant over a bong as he saw me, he quickly put it down and smiled,
"You're here!" He said slowly, people around him laughed,
"I need to talk to you," I called out, his smile dropped and he quickly got up before walking over to me. I pulled him away from other people and lowered my voice so just the both of us could hear it, "Chloe said she's meeting me here in 15 minutes," He raised his eyebrows, "She wants to talk about something important," I explained,
"Let me know if she starts moaning on about Rachel again, okay?" He said before he took a step away, I quickly grabbed onto his wrist,
"What if she knows?" Anxiety bubbled into my throat, he grabbed my shoulders,
"Nobody is going to find out about that night, Elizabeth. Keep your pretty mouth shut and we won't have a problem," He said before pressing a heavy kiss onto my lips and then walking off back to his group of friends. Multiple people saw and I suddenly became embarrassed, I emptied my cup after taking a large sip and put it onto one of the tables before walking outside of the V.I.P section and into the large area. Drunk teenagers were everywhere and I was managing to avoid falling into the pool quite well. I looked around for the familiar head of blue hair for a few minutes until I saw her leaning against a wall on the far side of the pool, I quickly weaved my way through the crowd towards her. She stood up straight once she saw me,
"I didn't think you'd come," She smiled lightly,
"Neither did I," I crossed my arms over my chest,
"I think we should go outside to talk," She said, her eyes were bloodshot, I immediately became worried, I shook my head,
"Here is fine," I shrugged, she rolled her eyes lightly. Chloe took a deep breath before continuing, tears pricked her eyes,
"I found her," She choked, my heart stopped and my hands began to sweat,
"What?" I whispered,
"She's dead, Elizabeth," She began to cry lightly, I stood there staring at her, I couldn't move, "And I know who did it." My heart rose into my ears,
"Who?" I asked, I didn't want to know the answer,
"Nathan," She spat out his name like poison. I wanted to scream.
