Falling for a goodbye

Chloe's POV

So I've been working here with Ryan for 3 months now and it's hard, I mean watching him go through all this is awful, it breaks my heart

He's in more pain, I can see it in his eyes but he won't admit to it and he's getting worse, he's had to have leg braces to allow him to actually walk but he hates to us them so he tries to do it without which is just making him worse but he's starting to come around I think

We've gotten pretty close and I like it but recently it's been getting a little awkward, I feel like we're about to have a moment and then suddenly it stops and that's really confusing because I have no idea what's going on

Ryan's POV

I feel like she might like me too but I don't know and I don't wanna do something and then ruin everything, I mean she might never speak to me again if I do something and I'm wrong

The doctors keep trying to convince me to have another surgery, they seriously think they can actually do something but they always seemed to honk that and yet here I am getting worse not better

I don't see the point, I want to keep living as long as I can but I don't want to keep doing that over and over again, I don't want to do I'm just not going to, it's my life and I can live it however I want to

No one else even knows they're suggesting it so there's no one to try and convince me to change my mind which is good

I hear the door open and look up to see Chloe coming in, she looks like she's been crying

"What's wrong?" I ask her with concern

"What? Nothing I'm fine" she lies and then sniffs, her eyes are all red and puffy too, and watery, I don't believe she's not upset for a second

"You're lying now tell me" I push

"Nothings wrong okay?!" She tells

I look at her a little stunned which clearly makes her feel bad straight away

"I'm so sorry, I shouldn't yell at you" she says regretfully as she heads over to the cabinet for my newly added morning round of meds, how exciting, not

"It's fine but seriously please tell me" I plea and finally she sighs

"It's the anniversary of my dad's death" she whispers

"Oh Chloe I'm so sorry" I tell her and I hold out my arms to her, she walks over to me and snuggles into my arms, I wrap them around her tightly as she sits down next to me and hug her
She placed her head in the crook of my neck and then I could feel her crying a little

"Shhh shhh, it's okay" I soothed, holding her tightly as she kept crying

"I miss him" she whispered through her tears

"I know, but he'd want you to keep going" I replied gently

She pulled away a little and nodded

Then it happened, we made eye contact for these few moments, it was so heated and suddenly we were kissing, I don't even know who started it, I just know that neither one of us stopped it

We may have just made a huge mistake, or we may have just made the best decisions we've ever made

At that moment in time I really didn't care which it was just that it was happening, I just hope she doesn't end up regretting it later when she finds out
