I get home and find Tarrant on the couch in a fetal position. The fire pit is lit and it's really just a sad picture.

"Tarrant?" I say putting my coat on the coat rack and walking over to him.

"Yes?" He says as he sits up slowly. His face expressionless.

"What's wrong dear?" I ask whipping the tears away from his face.

"Alice left. She couldn't stay." Why did she leave without saying goodbye to me. Whatever. I pull Tarrant into a hug. "She's gone." He keeps repeating to himself as he sobs. I just rub his back and let him cry. Occasionally saying it's okay. "Why does she have to leave?"

"Tarrant... she has a life. A family... " he winces. "That's not what I meant I know your her family but she has a mom and a sister. I'm sorry she couldn't stay." He nods and I sit on the couch with him. I kiss him on the cheek. "She'll be back, I guarantee it."

"If you say so then it will."
