Jungkook was already awake, eyes hooded as his thoughts and the light snoring of Taehyung next to him kept him awake. It was already 4 am as the guards did their last checkup 3 hours ago. Jungkook turned sideways to look at Taehyung, who was sleeping peacefully next to him, one arm lazily around Jungkook's waist.
Jungkook brought up his hand to meet Taehyung's cheek, stroking it with utmost care. He stared at Taehyung's sleeping form, which he secretly thought was quite adorable. His lips looked very kissable, soft and plump. He also noticed a little mole under one of his eyes, it was one of the very unique features of Taehyung.
The sweet smile that was placed on his face while looking at the other quickly turned into a sad, pitied smile. Thinking of his past phone call as he looked at him with an apologetic look, spread across his features. He wanted to close his eyes and enjoy Taehyung's company, but it seemed like guilt was far more busy clouding his thoughts.
Hold on. Since when did the Jeon Jungkook care about keeping someone happy? He did not even know himself and scoffed out loud.
"God Jungkook what are you thinking? He's just a random guy that you got signed up with in prison. No hard feelings right?"
Jungkook spoke to himself out loud, some people would question his sanity at this moment, but for Jungkook it was just a brief moment to get his thoughts somewhat sorted.
After his little conversation with himself, Jungkook's thoughts could only comprehend one thing and that was the phone call of a few days ago.
As soon as the call got picked up a voice greeted from the other line. Jungkook's breath hitched as his eyes were threatening to fall out of its sockets. He stood frozen, not daring the breathe as he heard the voice on the other side of the call.
"Hello again." Jungkook was silent.
"I guess you're a bit surprised hearing my voice aren't you?" the other line chuckled.
"I really miss hearing your voice, baby."
The all so familiar pet name sent shivers down Jungkook's spine. He didn't know if his ears were deceiving him or that he heard it correctly. He sighed shakily and begged the other to continue in his head.
"Anyways," the other continued, "I just wanted to call you because I have a surprise for you."
"What?" Jungkook's voice was quiet and came out slightly fragile, to Jungkook's dismay. The person on the other line let out a low chuckle before continuing.
"You'll know very soon,baby. I have to go now, you may look forward to it with great expectations."
Jungkook clashed his eyebrows, trying to find any explanation in the said person's words. He was too caught up in his own thoughts to hear the person's goodbye and the line went dead. He stood there, the phone still on his ear, standing still with the most clueless expression ever, written on his face.
