Let Go (The Old Rope)

No...of course you didn't see it like I did.

You didn't view it as much,

but I viewed it as

something to hold onto;

and I held it.

I held it with all my might.

As the rope began to weaken,

I tied plenty of knots in it

to try and restore its strength

(so it could hold us both.)

I just didn't want to say goodbye -

I wasn't ready, yet.

I couldn't believe my eyes,

nor my heart.

My mind kept fighting the thought.

Why must the goodness that comes to me

always end in a hard fall to the heart?

But, hey!

I'll be okay!

Put your broken smile back together, again!

Force yourself to be happy!.

Conceal it, darlin'!

Let go of the old rope!

Let it go?
