(30 years ago...)
I was sitting in St. Peters Rural Hospital in Wisconsin. I was next to my brother's hospital bed. It was my fault he was laying there. Me and my stupid friends. We just had to show him up. We just had to put him in that robot. We did this. I lay my head against the railing and sobbed.
"I'm sorry Sam... I'm so sorry Sam." I spoke softly and sat up, looking at the steady rise and fall of his chest. I listened to the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor. A nurse came in and said visiting hours were over. I stood, held his hand for a moment, let go and walked out. I would never see my brother again. Not for thirty years...
This is kind of a filler chapter, kind of not. Kinda do tells you what to expect later ;)
