You knew that this was all fake, but when Ayato was acting up like this, you felt hurt. 

He was crying. He was already beautiful. Why would he say things like this? 

You grabbed his face delicately and pushed him to face you. 

"You are beautiful. Don't you dare to argue with me on this" 

"B-But-"

"No buts." 

He began crying. He was so emotional in this state. And you felt sad as well. 

He began to calm down and you felt yourself start to fade away. 

"I have to go now..."

"No! Stay with me"

"But Ayato..."

"You have to stay here! I'll be sad if you go" 

"But I don't go, you'll suffer" 

"What do you mean?"

"You'll relive everything hell again and again" 

"But I want you to stay" 

You could feel your time running out quickly. 

"I have to go" 

"Just give me a hug, one last time" 

You leaned in and hugged him, for the first time in a few months. You almost didn't want to leave him here. Just live in this circle for as long as you could. 

But you couldn't. 

You could see yourself disappear in his arms, and the fear he had on his face. 

"No! Come back! I want you to come back" 

His greedy instincts came back. 

Then you left him all alone. To the next gate.
