Chapter 6

THE CHANCE TO ESCAPE

It didn't happen, but it almost happened, and it scared me. Creed didn't intend to rape me, at least he was not a pervert. He wanted to teach me a lesson, pero sa ginawa niya, pakiramdam ko'y napagsamantalahan na ako. I was a delinquent, there was no reason to deny that. I knew how to take care of myself as a woman.

Not anymore.

What happened between Creed and me that night was a big mistake. I regretted it. I still let him do that. It wasn't rape and I'm still asking myself what the hell got into me para hayaang mangyari iyon. Perhaps because I was attracted to him.

It was wrong because I didn't know him. I didn't know what kind of person he was. I didn't know anything about him. I didn't know he was a devil.

Consider this a warning...

Yeah. I would never get in his way again. I learned years ago that to survive a gangster's life, you must avoid messing with someone you couldn't defeat.

Creed was stronger than me. My punches and kicks didn't even harm him. Hindi masamang tanggapin na may mas malakas pa sa 'yo at may mas nakakahigit sa kakayahan mo and I admit that Creed was ahead of me. So, I should not mess with him again. That's one of the many ways how to survive a fight.

I heaved a sigh. It was a mess, but it was better than walking outside with my ruined uniform.

"Hey."

"Are you hungry?" tanong niya.

Umiling lang ako. "It didn't happen."

I was embarrassed to be seen like this, but I had to tell Draven na walang nangyari.

"I know." He laughed. "Creed would never do such thing."

"That's why you didn't stop him?" I snorted, full of sarcasm.

Draven's smile vanished. "Creed is the person you could never read. Believe me, Temple, what happened was... was..." Draven closed his mouth. Obviously, He was not sure how to defend Creed.

"He is a devil." wala sa loob na bulong ko.

"Yes, he is, pero hindi siya gumagawa ng isang bagay nang walang dahilan."
