                                                   Jack's P.O.V.

While Victor was taking care of the rogue problem, he had me watch little Torch.

I hope that she wakes up soon...

"She's not responsive," I mumbled when Victor walked back into the room. "The doctors said that she would be responsive by now, but she's not responding to me."

"Weird, she was responding to me before I left to go take care of the rogues," he said with confusion clear in his voice, his eyebrows scrunched up as well.

I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, but you're her mate, so obviously her body would react to you," I muttered, my frown deepening.

"Why don't you go and get some rest?" he sighed, sitting down.

Why is he trying to tell me to get rest, he hasn't slept since she got hurt. He needs to do so as well, doesn't he?

"Why don't you?" I mimicked.

"Not until she wakes up," he bit out softly. "I won't rest until Elena wakes up."

"Then I won't either," I said, crossing my arms.

"I can't rest until I know that she's okay," he whispered. "But you, you can. Go for a walk or something if you can't sleep."

He started speaking again before I was able to respond.

"Don't make me use my title against you, you know how much I hate doing that," he groaned, closing his eyes in annoyance. "Especially against you, brother."

"Fine," I huffed, walking heavily out of the room.

"Lily?" I mumbled. "Could you go talk to Victor for me, please?"

This is kind of embarrassing asking her for help with my brother.

"And why does Victor need a talking to?" Lily asked. "Has he done something wrong?"

"He's refusing to eat or sleep and he's not leaving Elena's hospital room unless he has to," I replied. "Like when the Rouges attacked."

"It's the mate bond that's not allowing him to sleep and it's the worry that's making it hard for him to eat. He'll most likely be like that until she wakes up and he knows that she will be alright," she sighed softly. "But I will talk to him about him allowing himself to be wallowing in self-pity."

This is because of the mate bond? I thought that the mate bond was supposed to be good and helpful. I guess nothing can be truly good, huh? There always has to be a little bad in something good, I guess.

"Alright, thank you," I smiled softly.

"Anything for two of my three favorite men," She laughed. "That third man being my mate of course."

She laughed once more before walking off in the direction I came from.

Now that that's finished, what should I do now?

I can't sleep, not when my best friend was kidnapped, almost murdered, and is in an induced coma because of it. I do hope that she'll be alright.

I'm just so worried about her.

After much thought, I finally decided to just go for a walk through town and see how much has changed since I was last here. Maybe I can find something to keep my mind off of Elena's condition.

I hadn't thought about seeing what's changed in my home town with everything that's been happening with my brother and Elena being mates and the work that I have to do for the concerts.

A lot has changed. Wow.

Everything seems more compacted and crowded than it used to.

Wait. What's that smell?

It smells like angel cake... Is there a new bakery nearby that sells angel cake?

I love angel cake.

I looked around, seeking the source of the smell.

"I'm... I'm so... so sorry," A girl whimpered, tripping onto my chest.

It felt like sparks flared where our skin made contact.

Mate.

"Mine..." I whispered, gazing at the frail girl in my arms with wide eyes.

My mate.

I've finally found my mate.
