~~Cassidy's Point of View~~

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock bleeping. It's the most annoying sound I've ever heard. I grudgingly hopped up, sporting my favorite pair of pajamas (it was basically a thin sweatshirt and a pair of plaid pants). I never wanted to get out of them. I looked at my phone, checking my notifications. A couple of snapchats and a text from a remind 101 from my teacher.

Why would she send that at night?

I grabbed some clothes and ran to get a shower. I had about 30 minutes to get one. The perks to getting early, you can take really long showers. I grabbed a plastic bag and put my phone in it, pulling up YouTube. The sweet sounds of Bethel and Hillsong filled my bathroom as I cut the water on.

I couldn't help but think about what Bowen had said last night. I knew he had gone through some hard stuff, but I never knew what it was, I just knew not to ask. I knew about some of the stuff, like how Saige's biological father divorced her mother. They moved here about six months later.

That's all I knew. My mom never told me anything that Mrs. Maggie told her, and my dad would never even think about telling me if Mr. Jimmy said anything.

My timer rang and I cut the water off, jumping out and drying off. I threw my clothes on and wrapped a towel around my hair. My could hear my mom just starting to get ready in her bedroom. I dried my hair and curled the edges, leaving it just strait enough to pull it up into a ponytail. I looked in the mirror, examining my outfit.

I really wanted to go back to sleep.

I walked out of the bathroom and into the dining room, opening the windows. It was pouring cats and dogs outside. A flash of lightning illuminated the dark room, and a clap of thunder shook the glass in the cabinet. I closed the shutters and ran into the kitchen to fix breakfast. A Hot Pocket for now and then chicken salad for lunch. Yum!

I finished my Hot Pocket as I heard my mom shout that we were about to leave. I ran back to my room and put in a pair of earrings and a necklace. I looked around, trying to find my jacket. Where was it?

My phone dinged as I gave up on the search. I cut my phone on to see a Facebook Message from Bowen.

Hey Cass. You left your jacket here last night. Saige is going to bring it to the front office today. She said she would tell them it was yours.

I laughed.

Thanks for telling me and tell her I said thanks!

The reply came a moment later, No problem. Have a good day.

You too!

I slipped my phone in my back pocket and grabbed my other jacket with a huge 'CC' on the back. I zipped it up as my mom walked out of the door.

"Wait for me," I yelled as she laughed.

I packed up the books I had used the other night to finish my paper. I had four subject binders, and main binder with my pencils, homework, and planer in it. I also had a medium sized textbook and two AR (accelerated reader if you don't know what that is) books. Put that into a book bag, and it weighs about twenty pounds. It didn't help that today I had to go and practice my Majorette skills.

My friend, Bella, had an older sister that was a Majorette for the marching band at the high school. She was teaching me how to do thumb tosses (it's just like it sounds like), horizontals (where you twirl it over and under your arm), and verticals (where you twirl it up and down just like the horizontals) in both hands. That could get difficult. I had to have another bag with extra clothes and and my two batons.

That was a lot of stuff to carry.

I flung my bag over my back, grabbed my purse, and ran out of the door, where my mom was waiting in the car. I put my book bag and umbro bag in the back of her car and hopped in. The drive to school was mostly quiet. My mom had stayed up last night talking to a friend who was having surgery in a couple of weeks. She was really quiet.

We pulled into the school drop-off zone and she unlocked the door.

"Have a good day," she said, "Love you!"

"Love you too," I said and closed the door.

The large metal doors of the school were open as usual, almost welcoming the kids come in to their torture. Right inside was the front office and another set of glass doors that usually stayed locked. Next was the cafeteria and then the councilors office. A hall right next to that led to the meeting hallway area, where five halls were split. One hall led to the media center, another to the electives hall, and the other three leading to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade halls.

I walked down 6th grade hall, heading for my old teachers room. Mrs. Mayfield always asked me to do errands for her. It was about 7:00, the time I usually got to school. The bell to go to homeroom rang at 7:55. That was a long time to do errands.

"Cassidy!" I turned at the voice. It was my friend Nattily. I always called her Nat.

"Hey Nat. What's up?" She fell into step next to me.

"My mom had to go somewhere today so she dropped me off early and I saw you coming down the hall," she said.

"Ok, you can help me do errands for Mrs. Mayfield." She said ok and walked into the classroom with me.

"Morning Mrs. Mayfield!" We said in unison.

"Morning girls," she smiled at us. We immediately began helping her pack some stuff up in boxes. The school was getting remodeled this year and 6th grade had to get their stuff packed up and then 7th, and then 8th.

We worked until about 7:15, when she asked us to go make copies and deliver them to some teachers. We made the copies (100 of them)  and then ran to give them to all the math teachers in 6th grade. When we came back Mrs. Mayfield told us that she was good.

We walked around to all the teachers to ask if they needed anything. We did about ten or so errands until the bell rang and we had to walk to 8th grade hall to go to homeroom.

"Are you coming to do homework with me," Nat asked.

"Yea I am I just have to give some stuff to Mrs. Milligan," I answered.

"Alright, see ya!" We walked to opposite sides of the hall to our lockers.

The day passed pretty quickly, and before I knew it, I was on the bus with my friend going to practice.

Then I realized something.

I totally forgot to get my jacket.
