You sat in the great hall as the twins sat down next to you. "Oi, (Y/N) you didn't come to class last period. Why'd you skip?" Fred asked.

"I didn't." You mumbled, flipping the page in your book. "I had a splitting headache."

"Why?" George asked, as the great hall started filling up.

"I don't know." You mumbled. "I'm just - overtaken by homework."

"Ask Hermione for help." Fred suggested.

"Already did." You sighed. "She's got nearly as much homework as I do, and she promised to help Harry and Ron with their homework."

Fred and George exchanged a glance, before you stood up and said, "I got to go. I'll see you both tomorrow."

You walked out of the great hall, too tired to care if anybody noticed you. As you walked up the stairs, you tripped, falling up the stairs and spilling your things everywhere.

You cursed, rubbing you arms which were now throbbing.

"(Y/N)! Are you alright?" It was Fred, who had run to catch up with you.

"No." You mumbled as he grabbed your hand and helped you up.

"What the hell is going on with you (Y/N)? You didn't used to care this much about schoolwork. You almost failed Transfiguration twice, and it didn't even faze you. Are you alright?" Fred asked again.

"No! No, I'm not alright, nothing is alright!" You cried as you collapsed ha k onto the ground. Fred gathered all your books and handed them back to you, and you hugged them to your chest.

"I'm failing Fred," you said meekly. "I'm failing every single class."

He looked surprised at your revelation, and then confused. "How?" He asked.

"I don't know!" You yelled, as two fourth years walked past. "Keep going." Fred mumbled to them.

"Look, I just know that Professor Dumbledore told me last week that I'm failing, and I don't want to fail. I would have to stay back a year." You sighed.

Fred's demeanour completely changed. "Wait, you - you wouldn't be in our classes?" He asked, his voice having changed as well.

"I wouldn't graduate with you either, or take the O.W.L.s with you, or anything else." You told him as you stood back up.

"Y-you can't fail then, (Y/N)!" He cried.

You sighed, and tilted your head at him. "I got to go, Fred. I'll see you tomorrow."

You turned and walked away.

After almost two months, you pulled your grade back up and managed to maintain good grades in all of your classes. The last week of school showed up, and you decided to speak to the twins again for the first time in a while.

You found them sitting in the Gryffindor common room with their heads together, whispering.

"(Y/N)!" George said as you walked up to them, and suddenly you were engulfed in a hug.

You laughed, letting yourself relax a little. "Hey guys." You smiled. "I'm - really sorry that I stopped talking to you - I was just... look, I got my grades back up!"

"That's amazing!" Fred said, and you sat down next to him as George said, "You know, you really had us worried for a while there."

You shrugged, leaning your head on Fred's shoulder, and yawned, "There's just..." you cut yourself off by realizing something.

"Shoot!" You cried, jumping off the couch.

"What's up?" Fred asked.

"I forgot to do something!" You groaned. "I'll be right back - oh, wait no, Fred, I need you to come with me."

"Gee, thanks." George smiled sarcastically, but winked at you, and you flushed.

"Come on, come on." You said, grabbing Fred's hand and running out of the common room.

"What is up with you?" He asked as you pulled him to the revolving staircases.

"Look  I - there's just something I needed to get off my chest, okay?" You told him as you walked up the stairs. He followed you, suspicious.

"(Y/N), this isn't normal, what in the world are you doing?" Fred asked.

You spun around to face him, which made you crash into him, and he stumbled backwards into the wall.

"Oops," you blushed, his face going red too.

You pushed off of him and said, "If you're going to be so impatient, then, I'll just tell you."

You stopped pacing and looked at him again, sucking in a breath and whispered, "I like you."

Nothing happened. For a minute it was like the whole world had just paused.

"What?" Fred croaked, his voice strained and shaky.

"I like you." You repeated, starting to feel worried. You'd thought that maybe, since he cared so much about everything else you did, maybe he liked you back.

Maybe is a stupid word.

"You - wait - you - how - you - what?" He stammered, and you felt a smile on your lips as he struggled to speak normally again.

"Me? What, why, what?" He asked, his breathing still uneven.

"I don't know." You said. "You're just - you're always there for me. You - I don't know ok? I'm terrible at this."

"You clearly can't be any more terrible then me." Fred smiled.

You laughed. "I guess not." There was another pause, and then you sighed, "We're both pretty terrible at this, then."

"No," He said. "At least you said what you were feeling; I don't even think I could put my feelings for you into words."

You blinked, overly surprised. "Try then." You dared him, excited to see where this would go.

"Oh - ok, I guess, um..." Fred licked his lips, and then said, "Oh! Ok, so, you remember that one time when you broke your arm falling down the stairs?"

"We do not speak of that." You said.

"I know, but seeing you cry kind of just -" Fred stopped again and put his head in his hands, and then blurted, "I guess what I'm trying to say is that I've always sort of known that I would fall in love with you, and that it would probably ruin me, but I did it anyways, and my emotions became so overpowered in your presence that when you were sad I became sad because you were sad, and when you were happy, it was like - like even better then being happy for me, and I loved that, so I would sacrifice all my happiness for you to be happy, and I just - I kind of sort of love you. No, no, I love you. Just - a plain and simple fact that's always been there."

You were speechless, you didn't know what to say. "I - I - what?"

There was a pause, and then you kissed him, because you didn't know what to say.

When you pulled away, Fred mumbled, "I could actually get very very used to that."

You laughed, and said, "Don't get cocky."

He tilted his head to side, and you laughed again. "Come on, then." You said. "We sort of just abandoned George back there."

"Yes, because I totally didn't follow you."

"George!"
