At those words, chaos unfolds.

The King didn't even try to listen to what Maven and Cal had to say! That's unfair, I remark to myself. But there is no more time to wonder, as the soldiers from the Lakeland side have already started to attack ours.

They've only hit the first line so far, but I'm not going to wait for them to come for me.

I push my way through the surprisingly reluctant crowd, eager to get at the King who so easily defied the Calore brother's polite requests. There's no way that somebody could be as sneaky as to start a fight when they are only in the first stages of negotiation.

As I charge, a Lakeland soldier spots me. Collision is inevitable as he rushes for me, sword brandished and ready to maim me. Unluckily for him, I have enough sense and experience in fighting to take the silver spear out of it's encasement.

Waving it threateningly in the air, I summon my lightning. There's no way that a little Lakeland guard can take the Lightning Girl down. Although I didn't take much in from my short time at school, I remember which metals conducted electricity the most. Coincidentally, it was silver. All I remember was scoffing at the word, thinking of the high almighty nobles of Norta.

But now I know that it will aid me in my fighting. I watch with triumph as the soldier's pupils dilate with shock. He's probably never seen someone with a power like me. His mouth sets into a grim line, and he doesn't stop coming for me.

Our weapons meet in a harsh clash, and I watch my lightning slowly crawl it's way onto his sword. He takes it away from my spear in a rapid movement, only to try and knock me down with it. I growl, and try to take his knees out from underneath him.

Without seeing how my action has played out, I jump out of the way in case he has retaliated. A timeless tip that I learned from thieving. If you do something dodgy and you're pretty sure that they saw, get ready for a retaliation. Unsurprisingly, he had, and missed the back of my legs by mere inches. I growl menacingly. "I expect that you trained hard for this. Do the Lakelanders have a conscription too," I ask in an attempt to distract him as I kick him harshly, "because the way you fight, I can tell."

It's true. I've already overpowered him with my incessant talking, and he scowls. "Yes. But unlike the likes of you, I actually enjoy fighting. I was eager for my letter. Were you?"

You don't know the half of my history, so you're the one to speak. I spit at his conquered form, and rise to another opponent. If all of their soldiers are as easily defeated as he is, then the Nortan soldiers and the Scarlet Guard should win with ease.

My eyes scan the battle ground cautiously, and I can spot Xena protecting Bronx against a set of three young soldiers. They seem to taunt the pair, but I can see that Xena isn't standing for their nonsense. Her eyes are narrowed like a snake's, coiled and poised for her next attacker. Even Bronx seems to be irritated by the soldiers, and takes a couple swings in their direction.

"Where are you going?" A voice from behind me demands, and I can already recognize the infuriating tone. Rolling my eyes, I turn to face that Lakelander guard again.

Only to find that he is right in my face, sneering right in front of my eyes. "You better pay more attention, girl. Too late, now."

My slow reaction is a stupid mistake.

As his sword cuts my shin, I lower my spear so that it collides with his offending arm. I watch with satisfaction as he literally jumps back from the electric shock that it gives him. I'm about to turn away, but the soldier shouts at my retreating form.
