After seeing that both Maven and Cal are ready to fight and alive, I feel a fuel of confidence powering me. The Lakelanders shouldn't be so demanding and assuming. There's more to us newbloods than they'll ever fully comprehend. Part of me wonders whether the Reds in Norta are luckier than those in places such as Lakeland.

I let the familiar sensation of anger take over my body, and the lightning surrounds me in a fatal ring. That should fend off anybody who thinks that I'm just a youthful Red playing with her toys.

I can sense the overpowering energy circulating me, both from my person and the others around me. Strange enough, I can feel the energy emanating from my fellow newbloods. My heart swells with momentary pride, but I begin to feel bad that we are only being used for another fight.

To my left, I can see that Evangeline is viciously directing daggers in the direction of anyone who glances her way that is marked as the enemy. I see her point one at me, but then hesitate as she recognizes who she's fighting. Before, she may have just killed me anyway. "Tone it down, Lightning Girl! You're stealing all of my thunder!"

Smirking, I only harness my energy more. Hopefully she just puts her energy into defeating the enemy, not attempting to get revenge on me.

Part of me begins to bore as nobody comes to confront me. My mind wanders, thinking of my companions and how they're faring. Concentrate, Mare. You're weaker when you're not concentrating. The only problem that we have is that we outnumber our opponents. Our powers are unique, having the newbloods on our side as well as the noble Silvers. Yet I do not pity the Lakelanders, for it gives us a major advantage.

Playing with my lightning, I let go of my powers so that I appear more vulnerable. Doing this also gives me a better look at who's around me.

Which I partially regret.

The Nortans aren't doing as well as I had believed. Although we do have the slight edge, we appear to be outnumbered. Contrary to my foolish beliefs. Seeing our King in my outer vision, I sprint in his direction to point this out. I keep an eye out for any attackers out of the corners of my eyes. I know that I'm not a battle strategist, but surely this cannot be a good thing. We need to come up with something, and fast.

He looks up as I walk over, and I'm very glad that there's nobody already trying to confront him. With one final spurt of energy, I'm by his side. Perhaps a couple weeks ago, I would have been panting from the exertion. The training that Cal put me through has helped me, and I find that I cover the distance with ease.

"My King," I began. Seeing the annoyed look that he gives me at this formal name, I rephrase: "Maven. We need to come up with some type of plan, or else this may not go as we planned."

"This whole ordeal hasn't gone as we thought it would, but I completely agree." His eyes scan our surroundings, including the pale sky that reminds me of the hue of his irises. "What are you suggesting, Lightning Girl? You're the queen of heart breaking and revenge."

Indeed I am, and so are you. "We should do something as revenge, yet I can't think of what to do quite yet."

I stare at our morbid surroundings, trying to see if there's anything that we could do to get an edge on the Lakelanders. Where's Ada and her battle strategies when you need her?

Suddenly, my eyes settle on the Lakeland Queen, standing prone and abandoned on the battle stage. One or two idle guards stand dazedly on two sides where the stairs are, leaving the other sides open and ready to be jumped. Occasionally, they stand to attention as competition comes their way, but their companions come and aid them. I guess that shows who did well with their training. Wordlessly, I nudge Maven by the elbow. He glares, but then looks in the direction that I'm guiding him to.
