"Ooh, this dress is so cute," Sky said. I looked up from packing suitcase to see what she had grabbed from my closet.

"Ooh, I haven't wore that thing in years. You can have it."

"Yasss," she said. "Thanks girl. So, you driving up to the bay tonight or in the morning?" Sky questioned when sitting on my bed.

"My dad is sending a car to come get me in the morning, so I'm trying to pack early for once. What y'all got planned for Christmas this year?"

Sky sighed. "You already know what's going down. Mama and pops inviting everybody to the house. Arguments and breaking news of some sort is sure to follow."

"You sound thrilled," I said sarcastically with a small smile.

"Mhm, it's always too much. It don't help that everybody is cuffed up. Meanwhile, I'm alone and shit. Travis bringing ol' dude who he's been hiding around now and Kyle's coming with his lil family."

"Oh, girl too much tea. And you not the only one who riding solo. I'm single too, so don't trip."

Sky shrugged and looked down at her phone. "Your boo is a mess..."

I furrowed my brows when zipping my suitcase up and rising up from the floor. "My boo...who?"

"Brandon. I was trying to convince him to come by mom's house for Christmas and keep me company, but he's being his typical mean self."

I mentally rolled my eyes. Bam had been ghost all week, so I wasn't really feeling him right now. I mean, I know he has Sam but it wasn't like him to just disappear on me. "Mhmm, he spending Christmas with Sam and her family so he won't be in town anyway," I remembered.

Skylar shook her head. "Nah, he told me they broke up or whatever so he's working overtime for the holidays like a lame."

"This is the first time I'm hearing this," I said as Marley hopped into my lap. I rubbed his tummy as I went through my thoughts. He hadn't told me that bit of information or anything as of late.

"Oh, well he says that they're better off as friends. Honestly, I just think he plotting on you."

My eyes widened. "Plotting?"

Skylar shook her head and cackled. "Don't play stupid, Laurie. Y'all clearly have feelings for each other..."

"Whatever you say, Sky."

"Woah, what's with the attitude? You usually all heart eyes when talking about him." I smacked my teeth.

"We're friends and we love each other as friends. That's that. I already know he not on me." Sky's brows rose up.

"Sooo, you're admitting that you like him though...right?"

I looked away from her eyes. For the past week, I had been thinking that maybe he had grown tired of me and my baggage. It's understandable, but I just miss my friend.

"Um, I think I'm way passed that point."

Skylar cracked a smile. "Oooh, chile you're in love...with Bam Wallace, the reformed playboy. Yep, can't say I ever saw this coming." I sighed deeply and moved Marley from in between my legs .

"Neither did I. I just wanted a fresh start and--I don't know. Maybe I'm in over my head though."

"Wha--why would you think that?"

"I mean, my whole situation is screwed up so why would he want to deal with that? It's bad enough that I invaded his loft with me and my child, but he's legit had to save me on countless occasions. I understand why he's not answering my calls and stuff...shit is draining," I said.
