3 months later...

I looked down at my watch to see that my shift was coming to an end and headed toward the time clock to clock out. "Glo, I'm out of here girl."

Gloria nodded as she headed to a patient's room with their food. "Alright, chica. Pray for me cause I need it with this double I'm doing."

"I got you."

Once I got to the break room to get my purse I took a deep breath of relief. When putting my phone's back volume on, I noticed that I had several notifications. Mainly, it was Bam being cute via text message.

Big Baby💕
I miss youuuuu baby.

Big Baby💕
I was sitting here lurking on ya ig page. When you got so fine lil mama.😍💦😩

Big Baby💕
Let me stop smh. You got me sounding like a bitch boy.😂

I laughed at his texts and finally responded to his sap behavior.

to Big Baby💕
You my bitch boy though.😘😂😜

I knew he was going to feel a way about that comment and sure enough he was calling my phone about it.

"Yes?" I answered as I headed for the ER's exit with a small grin on my face. "How can I help you?"

"How can I help you?" Bam mocked me from the jump. "You think you funny, don't you?" He questioned me just as I got in the car.

"Sometimes. You called me sooo I just wanted to know why," I said, trying not to laugh at him.

"Oh, I need a reason to call you...bet. Anyways, when I call myself a bitch boy let me say that shit. Don't be joining in and stuff. You hurt my feelings on the low," he chuckled which allowed me to let my laugh out.

"And people wonder why I call you my big baby? They swear you just this mean and hard dude."

"I'm still very much hardened. You kinda have my heart in your back pocket, so of course I care about how you feel and what you say. I could give two fucks about people."

If I didn't already have a kool-aid smile on my face, he put one on me. He had been doing this on the daily and it honestly scared me sometimes because there was always this doubt in my mind. I've been through this before where everything is amazing in the beginning and, then, there's a switch. I never wanted there to be a switch with Bam.

"Thank you for that baby."

"For what?"

"I had a long day today, but you never fail to put a smile on my face. Thanks for that," I thanked him again.

"Baby, I'm not doing my job if you're not smiling. Speaking of work, how was your day?"

I sighed deeply. "There was wreck on the interstate and that brought six patients in while we short staffed. A patient of mine threw up on my arm, so I still feel filthy. That was hell and, then, to make matters worse my mother came by today. I'm just over today."

"Wait, pause. Your mom, as in Shannon came by the ER. What did she want?" Honestly, I didn't feel like having a conversation about it but knowing Bam, he was going to push the issue.

"For me and Nas to be back in her life. I talked to my dad about it and he was telling me how my mom messed around and lost most of her money paying Christian's legal fees. Apparently, Vera Wang dropped her as a designer a while back for publicly supporting him. You know the industry trying to proactive about stopping rape culture now. But I don't know..."
