Chapter 16

Potential Friendship?

I took a warm hot bath to unknot all my muscles and luckily, Grandma had some special ointment for bruises so the next morning my arm was feeling dandy. Occasionally, when I moved too suddenly, there would be a burst of pain, but other than that I felt fine.

I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't wary and slightly scared of bumping into Dixson at school, therefore I made extra sure to keep my head down and remain as invisible as possible. I wanted to forget the whole event and resume my normal boring life again.

However, things didn't go totally as planned.

Upon entering my first period English, a little late, my usual spot in the middle row was taken. This meant I had to sit at the back again. With Blake and Corey. Who were already sitting at the back, carefree and joking around.

The thing is, that I hadn't sat with them since my first day here. After that lesson, there was a free seat in the middle of the class and I thought it would've been easier to sit there than all the way at the back. But now the middle seat was full. With a person. Damn.

Now walking to the back seat, I couldn't help but feel slightly awkward. I mean would they let me sit with them? I had after all sat away from them. Would they hate me? Was I over thinking this? Most probably. I decided to man up and let the chips fall as they may.

I didn't make eye contact with either of them and was trying to be a stealthy ninja. Yeah. I can do this. Ninja Rose, who can sneak past any-

"Rose!" Corey nearly all but yelled in his strong Australian accent.

I really need to start taking those Ninja lessons.

I shifted in my seat to look at him. He was one seat away from me with Blake in the middle of us. Corey was wearing a bright smile that was too contagious and before I knew it I was smiling at him too.

"Long time no see. Where have you been...all my life?" He then gave me a cheeky wink.

Oh no. Don't tell me he's a player boy?

I said nothing and shook my head laughing at his choice of words. I then looked at Blake who hadn't said anything, in fact he seemed quite distant. Something must be up with him.

The class door opened and someone walked in. Blake's eyes narrowed and grit his teeth. I was confused. I followed his gaze.

Double crap with cheese and crackers.

Dixson.

I forgot he was in my English! I shrunk in my seat a little and made a barrier in front of my face with the reading book. But the damn thing was too small and barely covered my face. Oh well. I had to use what I'm given.

"Rose." A smooth American voice called out, in a tone that was way different from Corey's.

The sunlight was streaming out from the window behind us. His creamy brown eyes glowing, and his hair halo blonde.

"I heard what happened yesterday. Will told me about it. Dixson can be a total ass hole sometimes. Are you okay?"

The last thing I wanted was for Blake to have a reason to be annoyed at the Aces, so I had to down play the whole thing.

"Yeah I'm fine. I just don't what his problem is but to be honest, I want to forget the whole thing. It really wasn't any big deal." I said waving my hand in a careless manner.

He had an unconvinced expression but didn't push on the matter.

"Alright then. But remember, if he tries anything again, come to me and I'll sort him out. Don't worry; I'm here to protect you Rosy."
