Chapter 27
Attchoo!
Axel grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards him.
I squeezed my eyes tight and tried to prepare for whatever came next.
But nothing happened. Islowly opened my eyes and saw Axel's forest green ones staring back at me. We were inches apart that I could smell the scent of his shampoo he used this morning, some kind of citrus.
I couldn't say or do anything. My eyes flashed to Edward who was still looking at us expectantly. From his angle it looked as if Axel and I were kissing when in fact we were not.
Axel squeezed my wrist to get me attention back to him. I moved my gaze back to his and could feel my skin begin to heat up. I was largely aware of the proximity between us.
Suddenly Edward began to move closer to us and he would see the truth. Axel realised it too as his eyes narrowed that he couldn't fool Edward like this.
Everything that occurred next, happened in the space of a less than a minute.
As Edward moved towards to us, pellets of rain began to fall causing a cascade to surround us and in those few seconds, Axel shut his eyes and closed the few inches between us, pressing his lips against mine.
My eyes grew wide and couldn't focus on what was happening.
Through the blinding rain I managed to see Edward run away, yelling about getting his new watch wet or his million pound outfit. It had barely been 1 minute but I instantly pushed Axel away from him.
My heart was beating fast and our clothes were getting drenched.
Axel looked around noticing Edwards absence.
"He's gone. Takes a lot to convince him. He didn't do anything to you before I came?" Axel asked behaving like he went round doing what he just did every day.
I just stood there and looked at him with disgust.
"Rose-"
I cut him off.
"How dare you.", Was all I said before I turned on my heels and ran away.
"Rose!" I heard him shout but I kept running.
Axel Archer took my first kiss and he didn't even care. Why did it have to be him?
I walked aimlessly through the rain deep in thought. Although the kiss was just a small petal touch, he still took it first. I don't know why I was so mad.
I screamed out in frustration to an empty section of the garden. I was not sure how long I had walked around for before I made my way back to the gazebo and the now dead tea party. Droplets of rain filled the glass tea cups and made the cakes go bloated and soggy.
It was now a ruined Tea Party.
I spotted Gran waiting by the car with a rainbow coloured umbrella above her.
"Rose! Where have you been? Why didnt you answer your phone? Hurry let's get home before the traffic builds up. Look at you all drenched, oh dear." Gran spoke very fast while she put her arm around me bought me to the car.
Mum and Mr Tee had already gone home according to Gran. Apparently they had dinner reservation tonight or something. I really wasn't in the mood for paying attention. My head was feeling heavy all of a sudden. Somehow we made it back home before the rush hour traffic and it was still raining cats and dogs. More like pigs and cows.
I sneezed three times and shivered as we entered the house.
"Go upstairs and quickly change before you catch a cold. Oh my, it's so chilly." Gran peeled off her soaked shawl and turned on the heating.
