Chapter 58. Nightmares...

(Third Person POV)

Nobody knew exactly how much pain Alex was going through after losing his parents & little sister, sure Robin knows he was a slave but after losing three family members in such a young age can do something to a person & scar them for life

"What should we do?" Zoro asked, Sanji went in front of them & started snapping his fingers... they didn't move

"They're out cold, we'll take them back to the ship & let them rest." they nod, Sly turned into his Woffin form & the two were set on his back, Robin & Sanji went along too. They were back at the Sunny & Sanji carried Sam to her room while Sly carried Alex, he left to go back to the others as Robin sat on the bed next to him

"You two must have gone through so much if I'm seeing you cry again." Robin got up to grab something but Alex grabbed her wrist, she turned around to see him awake but he was still asleep with a pained look on his face

"D-Don't... go." she sighed but smiled warmly at him, she got into bed with him & his breathing slowly calmed down, knowing someone was beside him

"I won't leave you..." she kissed his cheek before slowly falling into slumber

(Dream / Nightmare)

Alex found himself on Shada Island so when he was going to ask people of they might know him, they walked right through him... like he was some ghost. He looked around & saw his younger self while holding onto Sammy's little hand

"Its alright Sammy, m-mama is with papa now."

"But I wanna see mummy & daddy!" she started wailing out for them & younger Alex pulled her into a embrace, hugging her so tight to her he was going to be next

"B-But you have me!" she slightly calmed down

"You won't l-leave me alone, right Alexander?" he slowly nodded his head as tears slowly fell from his eyes

"I promise." that promise never lasted, a few days later the Celestial Dragons visited their island. They stole most of the echo flowers & a few of them targeted Alex & Sam, for they knew that they the children of the famous Knight D. Vice Admirals

"W-Whats going to happen to us A-Alex?" he desperately looked for a place to hide & found a box so he dragged Sam over, opened it & put her in it, he was about to close it but he heard her say "A-Alex what are you--" she was cut off with yelling

"There he is!!"

"Get him!!"

"I'll find you! Don't come out of this box until I find you or if the Celestial Dragons are gone!"

"B-But--" he already shut the box & ran away, he was able to lose them but he accidentally ran into the Celestial Dragon by mistake. Alex watched as his younger self got changed around his neck & wrists & was pulled onto the ship

Time skip to a few weeks on he was beaten, dragged, whipped & starved halfway through that slavery & he was already going through hell! Once he got there they already burned their mark onto his back, he held back his screams as blood dripped from his hands on how tight he clenched his back

The older version of him stared in fear & as he turned around to run away, he accidentally ran into one of the guards & fell to the ground

"What are you doing out of your cell?!"

"Wha...?" he looks down & noticed he was 11 again "I-I, I didn't... I mean--" Alex flinched when the guard yelled at him

"Shut up! I don't want to hear your fucking excuses!" the guard grabbed him by the neck & slammed him into the wall "You were probably trying to escape, weren't you?"

"I-I... I wasn't..." the man tched & threw him to the ground & kicked him hard in the chest Alex started coughing up blood, he pulled out a whip & smirked

"Those who try to escape receive punishment." Alex cried out in pain as the whip made contact with his skin & left stings, then scars, the guard kept whipping him until the whip wrapped around Alex's neck & he started choking

"Stop... s-stop please...!" he choked out as tears had finally appeared & started running down his face

"Why would I do that when I'm clearly having fun!"

(End of Dream / Nightmare)

Robin woke up when she heard him screaming, she saw him holding onto his neck as he was crying while yelling out 'STOP' in his sleep. She turned over & started shaking him to try & wake him, it didn't do anything

"Alex! Alex wake up right now!!" it still didn't do anything

"M-Make it stop!!" she didn't want to do this but it was the only option she had, she raised her hand & quickly brought it down as she slapped him awake. His eyes flung open & he was breathing heavily, he was sweating up a storm & was shaking like he was in a frozen lake

"Alex!" he threw his arms around her & hugged her so tight he never wanted to let go

"I-I was so scared! I had a nightmare that I was a slave again! I-It was horrible Robin, I wanted to die..." he started bawling his eyes out as Robin slowly hugged him back

"Its alright Alex it was just a nightmare, sh sh." with Sam, she was in the same state as Alex as Sanji held her close

"Its so painful Sanji! Not being Alex to feel anything with my hands! Those bloody pirates cut them off & made me suffer the pain!" Sanji tightened his grip around her as she cried "I can't even feel you hands, their probably warm."

"You don't need to feel them with just your hands, Samantha-san." he caressed her cheek with his hand & she leaned into it, it felt so warm to her "I love you Samantha, & I'd love it if you became my girlfriend." she started tearing up as she nodded

"Yes... I will be your girlfriend!" he kissed her & she smiled into the kiss as she grabbed the hand that was caressing her face

"I'll protect you in the darkest days when Alexander isn't there."
