Lunch eventually rolled around, and I got a call from Jeremy. I knew it was him without looking at my phone because he has a special ringtone, the "Apocalypse of the Damned" theme song. I picked up and answered, "Y'ello?"

"Hey," he began in his soft tone, "Can we go somewhere for lunch?"

I scoffed, "Jeremy Heere! Are you asking me out on a date?"

He began to laugh and I blushed, "Shut up, 'babe'! You'll blow our cover!" He laughed some more. We usually joke around like this, just now, I wish he was being honest. "I'll meet you out at your car, okay?"

"My old junkie. See you in two!" He hung up and I ran to start my car. It's old, and the leather is starting to tear, but it's still a decent ride.

I lean on the hood of my car and put on my headphones. Even though people think that all I listen to is Bob Marley, they're dead wrong. Recently, I've been listening to... really really depressing love music... I put on "I Think I'm in Love" by Kat Delilah, and waited.

Suddenly, I hear (more so Heere) my name being called, and a tall senior run up to me. I smirk and say, "Jeremy, my buddy! How's it hangin'?"

"Life is bangin'!" He replies, laughing. Ugh, I love this kid.

     "Want some sushi?"

     "When don't I?"

                                                                            ~^*^~

I had ordered some Maki Maki and Jeremy asked for California Rolls. We sat in complete silence, but Jeremy had looked tense. I thought I knew the reason, but I wasn't going to straight up ask him how everything was doing with Christine. I decided to test the waters. "So... I was wondering why you asked me to go out and have lunch with me and not your girlfriend?"

"Wha- Ha- Um-" He stuttered, staring at me and blushing hard, basically proving my theory.

I smirked and twirled my straw around my glass filled with Mountain Dew. "What's going on? She not playing enough—if you know what I mean." I chuckled, placing a smirk on my face.

Jeremy giggled, "No, no. It's just..." he sighed, making me look back up at him. He looked back, then down to his drink, "I want to know if I'm doing the right thing..."

"The 'right thing'?" I asked, confused. It didn't seem like he wanted to answer the question, I needed him to give me more information. I reached out my hand to his, placing it on top. He looked up at me, surprised, leaving a small blush on his face. "You can tell me anything. You're my best friend, remember?" I smiled.

He took a deep breath, and took my hand and held it. At that moment, I couldn't tell if my heart was skipping beats or beating faster. We locked eyes, as he explained, "I see guys flirt with her and look at her all the time. I'm just wondering if..."

     I held him tighter, 'If...?"

"If... If it's right for her to be with me. Just a loser who does nothing but play video games all day."

What he said, isn't wrong. It's obvious that Christine Canicula is the one main catch at this school. Every guy who isn't into Brooke or Chloe was into Christine. Well, besides me. I thought about this for a minute. I didn't know how to answer this honestly to him.

I had to choose between my love or Jeremy's happiness.

"Well," I started, shakily, "You have a fair point. B-b-but... think about it this way. You've had a crush on her for, like, ten years! You've tried almost everything to just gain the courage to just TALK to her! Now that you finally have her, don't let her go."

"What if she stops liking me?" He asks, with complete fear and sincerity.

I sigh, chuckling under my breath, "Then you two would need to have a conversation if you two get to that bridge."

He smiled brightly, "You're right! I shouldn't worry. Christine love me, and I love her."

I know you do, bud... "Yeah! Besides, who wouldn't love you!" I release my hand from his, smiling bright and squishing his cheek.

He rolled his eyes and brushed my hand, and joked, "Let go, Grandma!" We laughed until our food came.

                                                                            ~^*^~

As we were driving back to school, Jeremy twirled his thumbs in his lap, which he usually did when he had something on his mind.

Keeping my eyes on the road, I smiled, wondering, "What is it, Jeremy?"

He looked up at me, blushing hard. Quickly, he looked back down to his lap. "D-do you think w-we could-d skip the res-st of sch-chol?"

     "And do what?"

He looked up as if thinking. "Our usual. Get slushies at Seven-Eleven, talk about new video games-"

"Go to the rich side of town and make fun of all the rich people from the safety of the car?" I interrupted hurriedly.

He laughed, "Yes, that. Please, that!"

"What about Rent auditions?" I asked. "Christine will start to worry." Asking left me worried, thinking he wouldn't want to skip now, because of her.

From the corner of my eye, I saw a small smirk grow on Jeremy's face. 'We'll make it in time."

I smiled, making the first u-turn possible, and drove to the closest Seven-Eleven.
