The first day of rehearsals was... interesting to say the least. Mr. Ace told us to sit in our "couples," in a circle on the stage. He went around, giving each of us the full script of the musical. Trust me when I say this, but this freaking thing was the size of a goddamn dictionary.
I sat next to Jeremy, copying him, putting my backpack in front of me... There was nothing between us but uncomfortable silence, as Mr. Ace gave us the synopsis of the musical. I wasn't really paying attention, though. I took a couple looks at Jeremy and thought of a way to apologize to him.
"H-Hey, Michael?" He stuttered. I looked to him, and his face was a crimson red.
"Yeah, J-Jeremy?" I asked, my cheeks and ears noticeably heating up. WE were staring each other, but I was sure I was looking at him like an idiot.
"About last week... No hard feelings?" He smiled a little.
Did I say uncomfortable? I meant light and fluffy, per usual. I smirked, "You mean you didn't like our beautiful moment we shared?"
He laughed, lightly shoving me. "Shut up! You're so gay!"
"You know it, baby." This made Jeremy blush even more. I gave him a side hug, feeling his warm body held to mine. He returned the gesture with a sloppy kiss on the cheek.
We started laughing loud and hard. So much, until people started staring at us. By this point, we were holding each other, practically crying. When we realized people began looking, we quickly unlatched each other, looking away from each other.
Christine scooted to us, smiling. 'You two would be SO CUTE together! You know... If my Jeremy WAS, in fact, gay." Jeremy and I quickly looked at each other, then looked back, getting slightly redder.
"Oh my God! How long have you two had those?" Christine's eyes sparkled, looking down.
I tilted my head and asked, "Had what, exactly?"
She lifted our backpacks, to show Heere's "BOYF" patch and my "RIENDS" patch. "These! They are A-DOR-A-BLE!"
Jeremy chuckled, "Oh yeah! Michael got us those last year before-" he paused. Even though it's basically been forgotten by everyone else, everything from last year still hurts him.
"Yeah! I never thought we'd actually use them again! It's always funny when they're aligned." I interrupted his thoughts. He looked up and smiled at me thankfully.
Christine was told to go back to where she was seated. She did what she was told, and we started doing the cold read.
At the first Angel and Collins scene, my hand was supporting my body, resting my hand on the stage floor. At one point, we looked into each other's eyes.
He smiled so genuinely. I always loved how his looks were when he was genuine. He was beautiful.
He looked down, stating his loving line, sliding his hand onto mine. We looked up together, where he blushed and smiled wide.
Something was obviously different between us. And, frankly, I liked it.
