4: Beach day

Lapis' POV

Yesterday was fun. I had time to hang out with Peridot and it felt great. We had a great time. She's a fantastic person.

This morning, I woke up with a start. I dreamt about something weird. Peridot and I were... making out...
Never mind. I gotta clear my head. I'm gonna eat breakfast outside.
I went at that coffee shop in town called the Big Donut.
I was gonna order a drink but the donuts seemed really good. I took one and decided to take another one for Peridot. It's Saturday, I can go to her place to give it to her.
I was giving my money to a blonde short girl when I suddenly heard a voice behind me.
"Laaapis!" The voice shouted.
I turned around to see Ame and Pearl at a table.
"Oh hey guys!"
"Good morning Lapis!" Pearl told me.
"Dude, what are those two donuts for?" Ame asked.
"Oh, one is for me and one for Peridot."
"Oouhhh.... what's up with Peridot and you these days?"
"What?" I was blushing.
They both laughed.
"Anyways, we are gonna hang out to the beach today, do you wanna come?" Amethyst asked me.
"Yea! C-can I invite Peridot too?"
She chuckled.
"Of course..."
"Alright! See ya guys!"
"Bye, see you later Lapis!" Pearl said.

Peridot's POV

Today, I woke up because I heard my brother talking with a familiar voice.
"Hey, I'm Lapis, you must be his brother, I was just passing by to give her some donuts."
"Oh... so you are Lapis... come, she's upstairs."
I heard some footsteps in the stairs.
I heard knocking.
"Peridot ? Are you awake ?"
I panicked. I can't receive her like that!
"A second!"
Quick, I put my glasses on, brushed my hair a bit and got dress.
I opened the door.
"Oh hey Laz- Lapis !! What are you doing in my room... s-so early in the morning?"
"Sorry to bother you but I bought you a donut, I thought we could eat it together..."
"Uh, wow thanks! And you're not bothering me, I like hanging out with you..."

I can't believe I just said that.
She handed me a chocolate donut.

"Talking about hanging out, I saw the girls today and they invited me to the beach, do you wanna come with us?"

I choke on my donut.
I don't like telling people but... i can't swim. I can't tell her like that...
"Yea! Sure! I'd love to! I love the beach and the sticky sand that stays on your feet and the sunburn we get after! And I love drowning in the deep water too!" I said, ironically.

"C'mon, it's not that deep..." she said, loosing hope.

God, I thought she would've understand.

"No, I'm kidding, as long as you're there, any places to hang out is great."

"I'm glad..." she smiled.

It was 11 in the morning and Lapis was playing in the water with the others.
Ruby and I were laying on our towels.
Lapis arrived and sit next to me.
"You're not coming?"
"Meeh... I don't know..."
"C'mon, you don't have the choice!" She said with a smile.
She took my hand, got me up and start removing my shirt.
She pulled me in the cold water.
I couldn't breathe.
I was shaking.
I could hear blurry voices.
"Uh Lapis, are you sure she wanted to go in the water?" Ame was saying.
Now, all I was seeing was dark. I stopped breathing.
I felt two hands trying to pick me up.

Lapis.

I woke up somewhere I didn't know. My memories were inexistant.
But for some reasons, I felt safe.
I opened my eyes and Lapis was there.
Is it a dream? Where am I?
"Peridot? Oh my god are you ok? I was so worried, i'm so sorry it's all my fault, I didn't know you couldn't swim and I just wanted you to have fun with you and like you seemed a little-"
"Shush." I said.
She smiled.
"I'm so glad you're okay..."
I looked around and understood I was in her bedroom. My memories were coming back. And that was indeed a dream, me and her alone in her bedroom...
She sat on the bed, next to me.
"Do you need anything?"
"Nah, I'm fine. Thanks for bringing me here."
There was a huge silence.
We were looking at each others.
Her eyes are so beautiful. I wanna stare at them forever.

Lapis' POV

She has amazingly beautiful eyes. I wish I could kiss her.

Wait. What am I even saying? She obviously does not feel the same.

Her phone ringed.
"Ah... it's my brother, he must me worried, I should get going. Thank you for everything, I hope I didn't cause you too much troubles..." she said.
"Not at all, I'm happy you feel better..."

When she left, my mom wanted to talk to me.
"Lapis, we need to talk."
This sounded like troubles.
"Yes... mom?"
I looked down.
"I saw the way she's talking to you and looking at you, I know it's your new friend, but don't get too close to her... I think she likes you, and I don't want people to think you're gay because you hang out with her."
"Oh, and that would be the end of the world..." I said, pouting, crossing my arms.
"Excuse me?"
"What if people think I'm gay? What is SO horrible about that uh?"
"Lapis, watch your tone. We already talked about this. Go in your room. Now."
I went in my room and slammed the door.

I lay on my bed.
I felt a tear coming down my cheek.
I suddenly bust out crying.
Why does it always have to be this way...
