He sits me on the couch chuckling at my dazed response. "You're a bird. Is Halloween or something because usually people don't wear wings?! I think I'm high! Did they drug me?" I ask laughing hysterically as Kemo, Tobias, Drew, Amos, and Miles sit in front of me while I try to comprehend what they just told me. Angels? "Angels are in heaven, y'all are goofy. Jokes up, where'd you get the wings? I wanna pair, they're so soft." I laugh as the boys look at me with serious faces.

"Sophie, they aren't fake." Drew says. Tobias gives me sad eyes, Miles and Kemo just give me blank stares as Amos gives me a small smile.

"Guys, this is not funny." I say seriously this time.

"It's not a joke!" Drew shouts. Amos's wings rip his shirt as he squares up to Drew. Drew turns toward Amos and his wings come out.

"Don't you yell at her!" Amos growls. Miles drags his hand down his face as Tobias and Kemo watch. Drew lunges at Amos and they start fighting. Their huge dark wings hitting everything in their path.

I'm going crazy. This is it, I need to go to an insane asylum, collect myself and leave this town so people don't know I'm crazy.

"This was a bad idea, get them to stop. I'm gonna try and talk to her." Kemo says to Tobias. Kemo's arms wrap around me and carry me from the fighting human birds. They can't be angels. They just paid a lot of money to get those wings.

He sets me down on the bed after taking me shoes off. He takes a seat in front of me and takes my hands into his.

"Just listen okay?" He asks and I nod. "What I'm gonna tell you is going to be hard to believe. I can't tell you a lie. I live by a law of honesty when I'm around you. It's forbidden, I can lie to anyone else if I wanted to, but I can not lie to you. Keep that in mind. We are angles, everyone in the room out there is an angel. But I'm your guardian angel. Those guys who took you are just the tip of the ice burg." He breathes.

"Why did they want me?" I ask as he uses his thumbs to rub circles on my hands. His eyes meet mine before he speaks.

"You're special," he says softly scooting closer toward so that his face is near mine. "You're mother, she was special too. When she passed, she passed her abilities to you. She lost them when you were born. It was her choice, she could have lived forever, but she married, your father, a human. When she died, she didn't have her angel powers so she could die just like a human whereas you can't. Your mother loved your father greatly, she loved him so much she didn't want to live without him. She couldn't bare to live after he died. So you have angel abilities and you're going through the Change. You're turning into an angel, but how everything went down it's slower, the elements of the process are longer and more drawn out. That's why you had those sessions." He says wiping my tears at the mention of my mother. "She was a great women and she loved you." He whispers. I miss my mother so much and she loved my father so much that she gave up her powers so she could die as a regular with him.

"I miss her," I whisper and he nods his head.

"You're very special and the Fallen, the people who took you, can use you because you are special. And I'm here to make sure that you stay safe, because you're still developing. When you call me you just have to call for help. At the party you called help through your mind, I possessed you and fought him off. Tonight, I came when you called through your thoughts." He says rubbing my back.

"How...if you never age then wouldn't people know...?" I ask. He smiles at the question.

"I just get placed in different houses until I 'graduate'." He makes bunny fingers to emphasize graduate. "I'm actually good at English, I have to be bad at something or they would think something's up. I picked to be bad at it because then I get to meet you and here we are." He says motioning around us.
