Milo left Marlan to take care of Katarina and turned back to his bemused but calm Beta. Yosi didn't look remotely interested or bothered by his prolonged silence and he liked that. But he still missed Leo.

He decided there was only one thing for it. He had to do everything he could to prepare for his Beta's return and settle into the thought that he might not want to be Beta when he got back. That was his right, to refuse the position when he came back and Yosi would have the chance to accept or refuse it too. But if they both refused, Milo was left with an impossible choice. Who would take over his Beta duties?

He didn't want to go back to the old complication of deciding between Carlton and Grene. He supposed it wouldn't be too big a leap to ask Carlton's Beta, Brogan, to continue in the job, just under a new Alpha? Betas had done it before, when asked.

"Yosi, let's get the builders out here. I want a cabin, right in the middle of this clearing before Leo gets back. Nothing is to be touched except the ground for the cabin. The rest of it should remain wild," he explained his plans for the area.

Even if they had to build there, they would try to make the minimum impact they possibly could. The wildness was what had soothed him so often before; he was sure it would speak to Angel the same way. After all, wolves were wild at heart. And so was nature.

"Yes, Alpha," Yosi agreed diligently.

Shifters were naturally earth bound people; it was normal for them to create and play with nature. They had builders, farmers, weavers and potters, anything creative or to do with the earth appealed to them.

Milo sighed and nodded, pleased that it would be taken care of. He was so tired he could barely think and he knew that as soon as Katarina had fed her cravings and talked with Marlan, she would return home to him, safe and sound. "Once they've got their orders, leave them to it. We're going home to get some sleep," he explained calmly, fighting off a yawn that was beating away at him.

Sleep was adamant and persistent, but as the Alpha he didn't often have time to indulge in it. Especially now that Katarina was pregnant. Her mood swings and cravings were exhausting to keep up with, and their son wasn't exactly behaving himself either. He shouldn't be so strong so soon. He shouldn't have been bothering Katarina with these incessant hunger pangs and crazy shifts in mood.

Milo trusted that he had a plan. He had been right about giving her the vision that drove her into his arms; he wouldn't question him again. That vision had saved their sanity and their love. He would forever be grateful.

"Sounds good, boss. Daisy wasn't in the best of moods when I took this job. She's even less pleased with you, now that she realizes the hours I'll be keeping," Yosi laughed lightly, sounding tired even in that aspect.

Milo could understand why. He couldn't go anywhere alone. When Katarina woke him with a crazy craving that needed fed, Yosi had to go with him. Then there was the mountain of work that needed done before Carlton's pack arrived to merge with them.

"Why don't you both move into the house until Leo gets back?" Milo suggested. "He won't care. Besides, this cabin is for him so he won't be going back into his old room," he offered, giving him a little hint.

Leo had moved in, because they were best friends and he hated his parents. It had worked for them, in their subsequent pack roles too, so he didn't see why it shouldn't work for Yosi.

"I'll talk it over with her tonight," he agreed, with a nod of his head.

"Good. And...it might sound crazy to you, I don't know, but I've been living with an Oracle for too long, with an all powerful son growing inside of her, giving me visions so...I'm not exactly able to judge," Milo laughed at his own insane life and couldn't help but approve. It might have been crazy, but it was good. "You don't have to be afraid of having kids," he tried to get his point across gently, without malice or sounding like an Alpha. Or as if he or Katarina had been delving into Yosi's head. But he only managed to confuse his Beta.
