Flora and I make our way to the front desk, where a woman with dark blonde hair tied up in a tight bun and thin glasses smiles at us warmly. I smile back at her as she waves.

"Hi, girls. You must be the Landoff Twins, am I correct?" She asks us. Flora and I nod our heads. "Great! I heard you were coming from your father. We have your schedules and dorm rooms ready for you. Let me get them really quick," The lady tells us, digging through files that must have our dorm rooms and schedules in them.

"Um, Miss? Are my sister and I in the same dorm room?" I ask the lady. She sadly shakes her head.

"I'm sorry, Miss. Landoff, but we didn't have an empty rooms left. We're packed for the new year. I'm terribly sorry," the lady apologizes.

"It's alright," Flora tells her. The lady digs through the files for about another minute before beaming and taking out two pieces of paper and two keys.

"Here are your schedules and dorm rooms. Have fun and enjoy the school year, girls!" the lady exclaims happily, handing us our stuff and waving us goodbye as we exit the main office.

"Thank you," Flora and I say to her in unison and leave the office. We both examine our schedules.

"What do you have?" Flora asks me. I read over my schedule and take a look at my dorm room number.

I'm immediately curious about the Gift wielding class. Is that where we learn to control our Gifts? That sounds amazing! I wonder what Flora and I are going to do there before we get our Gifts next week.

"Let me see your schedule," I order Flora. She hands me her schedule and I hand her mine. I read over her schedule, praying that we have at least one class with each other.

"Well, we have three classes together, not including lunch," Flora points out. I chuckle.

"We should get to our dorms," I tell Flora. She nods her head in agreement and we head down the hallways filled with dorm rooms. I quickly glance behind my shoulder and realize that Gina and her friends are gone. They probably left to their dorms. I look ahead and realize that our dorms are on the second floor. Flora and I head up the stairs and quickly find our dorms near the middle of the long hallway. Floras is only a few dorms away from mine, which I'm thankful for.

"Now remember, if your roommate is bad, tell the office, okay?" Flora reminds me. I chuckle.

"Okay, same with you. Goodnight, sis. See you in the morning," I tell Flora as I unlock the door to my new dorm room.

"'Night," She replies, opening her dorm room door as well. I unlock the door and wrap my hand around the cold handle. I take a deep breath, turn the knob, and push the door open. I look inside the dorm and I can't help but realize how big and beautiful it is.

"Wow," I mutter under my breath, closing and locking the door behind me. I grab my suitcase and backpack and walk deeper into the dorm. To my right is a marble kitchen and a small dining table. To my left is a reddish-brown couch facing a rather big T.V. I can also see a white door which I suspect leads to the bathroom, and there's a glass door that leads to a balcony overlooking the front of the academy with its colorful flowers and stone fountain. I look deeper in and see two doors close to each other. Those must be the bedrooms.

I look ahead and see a long coffee table with a few wooden chairs around it with a vase full of blooming, vibrant red roses in them. Even though the sun has set and it's almost pitch black in here, I can tell the walls are a light brown and dark blue.

Suddenly I'm hit with a bright light as a door to one of the bedrooms opens and a light switch is flicked on. My eyes adjust to the brightness and I get a good look at my roommate. She's wearing yellow shorts and a bright orange tank top. She has straight, silky, jet black hair and kind blue eyes. She smiles brightly and warmly at me, and I smile back at her.

"Hi! I'm Veronica Kylen! You must be my new roommate!" She guesses, excitement in her voice. I wonder how long she's been waiting for a roommate, and how much coffee she's drunk today.

"Yeah. It's nice to meet you, Veronica. I'm Fay Landoff," I introduce myself.

"Nice to meet you, Fay. Oh, do you need help unpacking?" She asks me sweetly, glancing at my backpack and suitcase.

"That'd be great, thanks," I reply. She rushes over to me and helps me drag my suitcase to the other bedroom. As soon as we're there, she helps me unpack, hanging up my shirts, putting my other clothes in the drawers, and putting all my other belongings away on a small wooden nightstand next to the bed.

"Well, that's it. Thanks so much for helping, Veronica," I thank her.

"No problem. If you need anything, just call for me," She tells me. I nod my head and she heads back to her bedroom. God, everyone here seems so nice.

I look around the room and sigh. The closet is on my right and there's a window to the left wall. In the back of the room is the red bed and a white wood nightstand with a small dark pink lamp on it. On the other side of the room next to the door is a big drawer with a mirror. This place is amazing. I can't believe I'm actually going to live here for a year. Just the thought of that makes me want to explore every little inch of this academy and suck up all the amazingness.

Yeah, I'll do that tomorrow. Right now, though, I need some sleep, I think, realizing how tired I am. I take my clothes off and place them in a small white laundry basket inside the closet. Then I slip into blue shorts and a matching blue tank top. Finally, I collapse on the comfy red bed, curling myself into a ball, the red blanket warming me up like a bonfire on a chilly night.

I almost immediately fall asleep, my head resting on the fluffy, cloud-like white pillows. I smile as I quickly fall into a peaceful, dreamless sleep.

I'm already proud to call this place my home.
