There wasn't a lot of privacy on the Isle, that much was known. Just about everyone knew who everyone was related to, so the fact that no one really knew who [Y/N] was related to said a lot about who he was.
Some people thought maybe he was LeFou's son, he most definitely could pass for the son of the loveable idiot. But that wasn't right, while he had a similar build to LeFou, he didn't spend a lot of time in that part of the Isle, he tended to hang around the docks more.
Was he the son of the Queen of Hearts? No, that likely wasn't it...the Queen of Hearts doesn't keep her children much of a secret. Mr. Snoops? Possible, but unlikely.
It drove everyone nuts, they wanted to know who this boy was related to. He didn't spend a lot of time with anyone, it didn't seem like he had friends so it wasn't like someone could just ask one of his friends.
In fact, when Harry Hook learned who his family was, he found out purely by being in the right place at the right time.
"But Grandpa, come on!" [Y/N] said, sounding as though he were pleading with whoever he was talking to.
"Now don't you sass me, I said I wanted you home by sundown, and I mean it! If you aren't home by sundown you're going to be grounded, young man! And I mean it too!" The all too familiar voice of Mr. Smee said, which took Harry by surprise. He didn't know Mr. Smee had grandchildren.
There was a groan, then they heard a rock hit the wall lightly after being kicked. "Ugh..fine. I'll be home by sundown...I'll see you then, grandpa." [Y/N] said defeatedly, then Harry waited a moment before stepping around the corner.
"Yer Mr. Smee's grandson?" Harry questioned, and [Y/N] jumped and turned to look at the son of his grandfather's former captain.
"What's it to you?" [Y/N] said, turning and walking away since he really didn't want people to know. If people found out who he was related to, he would forever live with the legacy of being the grandson of a sidekick, they never get past that.
Harry raised an eyebrow and watched as the boy walked off, and Harry smirked to himself. He'd get him to open up, eventually.
It started out slowly, Harry wasn't very good at getting close to people. "Hey, [Y/N]... do ye wanna come ta sword fighting with the rest of us?" Harry asked him one day when they bumped into each other next, and [Y/N] raised an eyebrow.
"Why?"
"I dunno...it'd be fun?" Harry said, looking at [Y/N] who thought for a moment, nodding his head from side to side as he weighed through either option.
"Eh...why not. I have nothing better to do. But I'll just watch." [Y/N] decided as he gathered his things, standing up. "What? Aren't you coming?" [Y/N] asked Harry when he looked at him in shock, rolling his eyes when Harry followed him out and towards the ship where they held practice.
It wasn't much, but it showed Harry that the grandson of Mr. Smee was at least willing to be in the same room as others. It wasn't long after that he showed up to most practices, not every one, but most. And he even participated in a few, usually sparring with Harry who was surprised to find that he was an incredibly good swordsman.
It took a good few months, but the two of them became pretty good friends, hanging out most evenings when they didn't have anything else to do. One particular evening, the two of them were sitting and talking about their lives. "Aye, I got a question for ye, laddie," Harry said, drinking some water. "If yer good ol' Smee's grandboy, how come we never knew of ye 'fore?" He asked.
[Y/N] sighed, remaining quiet for awhile before shrugging. "I guess no one wanted anyone to know. My family keeps to ourselves. And frankly, I don't mind... don't want to just be seen as a sidekick because my grandfather is, you know?" He said, looking at Harry, who thought about it for a moment and nodded.
"Yeah...me dad's a captain, ye know that. But 'ere I am, a first mate. Dad says I should be captain, just like him. But I don't want ta be. I like bein' a first mate." Harry said, giving a sigh. It was somewhat different to what [Y/N] was going through, but at the same time, it really wasn't.
"Eh...we're not our family. We don't have to be like them." He said, scratching his chin before setting his hand down, accidentally placing it on top of Harry's hand, blushing and pulling his hand away, only to be surprised when Harry grabbed his hand once more.
"Yeah, I suppose yer right...aye, Smee, can I tell ye somethin'?" Harry asked, looking at him and biting his lip. He definitely wasn't good at this, so he took a deep breath. "Um...well, I really like ye...a lot...and I was wonderin' if maybe, sometime...ye'd like ta... I dunno, go out ta eat or something? Just us?" Harry asked nervously.
[Y/N] smiled some, giving a chuckle as he looked at the nervous Harry Hook, thinking for a moment before shrugging. "I suppose even a lone wolf needs someone to spend time with." He said, that being his own version of a yes.
