Barry Allen and Iris West were destined to be together. That's what everyone had thought, even you, but you couldn't help but feel jealous since you did have feelings for Barry. After seeing Barry choose Iris over Linda and Patty, it was never questioned that Barry would end up with Iris. Until one day you and Barry were at Jitters, drinking coffee at your usual table, and all of a sudden Barry asked you out. You said yes of course. Thus the two of you had went out and had a great time together.
Then after a couple of more dates, Barry asked you to be his girlfriend and with a huge grin on your face you agreed. The both of you were a happy and when you told the group of your relationship, nearly everyone was shocked. They were happy for you and Barry, of course. But they had some of their doubts, that Barry would eventually choose Iris over you and you would be heartbroken.
If only they knew that time would be soon.
You and the rest of the gang had decided to go bowling. You were divided up into teams; you, Barry and Cisco against Iris, Joe and Caitlin. You sat with Barry, his arm around your shoulder as you watched Cisco bowl. You and Barry cheered as Cisco managed to get a spare, making your team in the lead. But your cheers lowered as Iris bowled a strike, you still cheered, as you were proud of your friend. "Good job Iris." Barry complimented, a grin on his face and a light shine in his eyes. You thought nothing of it and brushed if off, as Iris was his best friend since he was a kid.
Since the outing at the bowling alley, you noticed the shine more in Barry's eyes whenever he was with Iris. Now you were starting to worry but you felt as if it was inevitable, you knew Barry had always loved Iris. So you started distancing yourself from Barry. Your conversations were short and your encounters after missions were swift. Barry had noticed something wad wrong since after the night at the bowling alley. Barry had tried to talk to you about it but you were always so quick to leave, so he never had the time.
Now the two of you were at home, watching whatever was on TV. "Hey Y/N, is something wrong?" Barry asked, getting your attention from the television. You let out a soft laugh, "what do you mean?"
"I mean you've been acting different. You seem to be ignoring me? Is something wrong?" Barry asks. You sigh, deciding to just be honest with Barry. "Ever since the night at the bowling alley, I've noticed something about you." You reply. "What do you mean?" Barry asks.
God this was gonna kill you. "I mean, I've noticed whenever you're with Iris, you just have this shine in your eyes and you just-you never had that shine in your eyes when you were with me." Barry wad quiet for a moment. "Are you jealous of Iris?" He asked, his voice laced with confusion. "I'm not jealous of her. I just don't want to be with someone who's in love with somebody else. I know you still love her Barry. God, the two of you were destined to be together and I don't want to get in the way of that."
"You're breaking up with me?" Barry asked, the hurt in his voice made tears form in your eyes. "I'm sorry Barry. I love you, I really do. But you don't love me as much as you love Iris Barry. This is for the best." You say, feeling tears stream down your face. You cup Barry's face in yours and press your lips against his one last time, pulling away you stood up, feeling Barry's hands try and pulling you back towards him. "I'm sorry but this is for the best."
