I gulped as I walked down the hall to the dining room, my flats somehow sounding like heels against the floor. My normally wavy hair was straightened, held back by a simple black headband, and I wore a dark blue dress that was just above my knees. I knew that my father and Dr. Banner wouldn't be there because of their experiments, but the butterflies in my stomach were going crazy. I normally never played in front of people, singing definitely not in front of a single soul. My father apparently watched from the security cameras in the house, something he had decided to tell me a few months ago.

As I walked into the dining room, I noticed the Avengers watching me intently. Natasha had a strange look in her eyes as she scanned me, her shoulders tensed as if she was expecting me to lash out. It made me uncomfortable, but I managed to keep both the feeling and my nerves to small shakes from my hands. As I sat down on the bench, I pressed a few keys to check that the piano was in proper tuning. Clearing my throat, I began the intro to Adele's Love In The Dark.

Take your eyes off of me so I can leave

I'm far too ashamed to do it with you watching me

This is never ending, we have been here before

But I can't stay this time cause I don't love you anymore

Please stay where you are

Don't come any closer

Don't try to change my mind

I'm being cruel to be kind

I could see the group watching at me out of the corner of my eye, almost causing my finger to slip on the wrong note. My nerves were beginning to lessen; I was hoping I didn't sound too bad. Out of the group of superheroes, I could see Steve's eyebrows narrowed slightly as he watched, as if he recognized me from somewhere but didn't know where. I closed my eyes as I started to sing the chorus.

I can't love you in the dark

It feels like we're oceans apart

There is so much space between us

Maybe we're already defeated

Ah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah everything changed me

You have given me something that I can't live without

You mustn't underestimate that when you are in doubt

But I don't want to carry on like everything is fine

The longer we ignore it all the more that we will fight

Please don't fall apart

I can't face your breaking heart

I'm trying to be brave

Stop asking me to stay

I can't love you in the dark

It feels like we're oceans apart

There is so much space between us

Maybe we're already defeated

Ah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah everything changed me

We're not the only ones

I don't regret a thing

Every word I've said

You know I'll always mean

It is the world to me

That you are in my life
