Worried

11 hours later, I finally woke up. I felt much better and decided to get some food into me. Mum had made me pumpkin soup and poured me a cup of orange juice. Soon after I finished I went straight back to bed and fell asleep, waking up at 7am the next morning.

Although my Mum thought I still had food poisoning, I convinced her I was well enough for school. I grabbed my bag and kissed mum on the cheek, while running out the door to make the bus on time. With 3 minutes to spare, I get on the bus and sit in my usual spot next to Georgia.

"Heey George," I whispered.

"Bon, are you alright? You look a little pale!" Her eyebrows did that weird thing they do when I know she is concerned.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Well, I feel fine!" Why did I look pale?

"OK, just don't push yourself to hard." George laughed.

"G, it's only school. I can't really push myself that hard."

Soon we were at school and it past in a breeze.

*2 months later*

Georgia and I had organised a sleepover and she was expected at anytime. While I was contemplating what things we could do, she turned up.

We watched Abduction and Charlie St. Cloud before dinner. Georgia wasn't talking much so I knew something was wrong.

"Georgia, what's wrong?" I was really worried.

"Oh, I hate being a girl. Sick of these fucking hormones," G looked annoyed.

"I know what you mean! Except I haven't have mine in a while" I wondered.

"What do you mean?"

"I haven't got them in about 2 months. It's been a bit weird. Don't you think?" I asked G.

"Yeah, maybe you should go to the doctors and get checked out?"

"I would but I am too embarrassed to ask mum to take me."

"It's ok. I'll come with you," George smiled.

"Aw, thanks George. You are always there for me, aren't you?"

"That's what I am here for," She gave me a massive hug.

After we ate homemade pizzas for dinner, Georgia and I dialled the number for the local doctor, Dr Hocking. She is so lovely but I haven't seen her in a while, I haven't had any need to. We made a booking for the next day.

We decided to get an early night seen as though we were both really tired and we had alot to do the next day.

At 9am the next day, my alarm on my phone went off, waking me and George up. We had to get up straight away so we could get ready to go out. First up we had my doctors appointment at 10:30am. My Mum and Dad had already left for work so we didn't need to explain to them where we were going.

Georgia and I were dressed and ready to go in no time and headed out the door and started walking towards the doctors.

"Are you nervous?" Georgia asked me.

"Yeah, I don't know what they are going to say," I said worried.

And nothing else was said along the way. My lips were quivering so much I couldn't speak and George just gave me one glance and knew that I couldn't talk so she didn't take the conversation any further.

We finally arrived at the doctors and went to sit down in the waiting room. To be honest, I was completely shitting myself. Georgia kept looking at me from the corner of her eye. We sat there for another 40 minutes.

"What could be taking them so long," I thought to myself. And just as I thought that, Dr Hocking called ‘Bronte Haynes!’

Georgia and I stood up and following the doctor through the door of room 4. We sat down on two single seats in front of a desk, where Mary-Anne Hocking sat.

"Hello Bronte. I haven’t seen you in a while and who is this with you?" Dr Hocking asked.

"Yeah, I know. I haven’t had much reason to come, I haven’t really been sick. This is my best friend Georgia," I smiled towards Georgia.

"It’s lovely to meet you Georgia. I am Mary-Anne Hocking." Dr Hock held out her hand and G shook it.

"It’s lovely to meet you too, Dr Hocking."

"Now Bronte, How can I help you?" Dr Hocking suddenly looked worried.

"I don’t think there is anything wrong but Georgia made me come here just to make sure! Well, I haven’t had my period in about 2 months and I don’t know why?" I explained to her.

"Have you been sexually active?" Dr Hocking asked me.

I replied with a loud "NO!"

"Oh okay," she sounded shocked.

Georgia just looked at me, probably scared.

"I’m sorry. I just really didn’t think it would come to that conclusion," I started to tear up.

"That’s alright Bronte. OK, we are going to have to do a few test to find out why this is the case."

I just gave her a slight nod.

After 2 hours of going through blood tests and scans, it was finally time to receive the results. Dr Hocking called Georgia and I back into room 4. We sat in the same seats as before. She looked directly in my eyes. I could see the tears starting to well up in her eyes.

"Why is my doctor starting to cry? This must be really bad. Oh no! What could be so wrong?" I thought to myself. I didn’t even know what was wrong with me yet and I was already starting to cry.

"I am sorry to inform you but........." and Dr Hocking held her sentence.
