We drove towards the ‘Blue Ivy’ Restaurant on Newcastle Beach. I still continued to glance at my ring, it was just amazing. Tom noticed that I kept staring at it and asked;

"Do you like it?"

"Are you joking? I love it!" I leaned towards him with my lips pouted. He met my lips and kissed them softly.

"I’m glad," He smiled.

We finally arrived at the restaurant and we were the first people there. We waited out the front for everyone to turn up. My feet were beginning to hurt, seen as though I have pretty much been on them all day. Mine and Tom’s hands were still linked so I pulled him in the direction of a couple of chairs near the door.

"What’s wrong?" Tom asked probably not noticing the seats.

"I just need to sit down, my feet hurt." I complained.

"Oh sorry,"

"Why are you sorry?" I asked confused.

"I should have realised."

"Yeah, well the doctor said I am carrying twice the weight I should. This swelling is really starting to piss me off," I frowned.

"Only another 16 weeks to go," He smiled.

"Thank God!" I said in relief. "I feel like an elephant."

We sat out the front for about 10 minutes until Georgia and Lincoln turned up. They walked by Mum and Dad and said hello on the way past and then Georgia sprinted in my direction with the biggest smile on her face.

"SHOW ME! SHOW ME! SHOW ME!" She screamed still running towards me.

When G was finally in front of me, I held up my hand for her to examine my engagement ring.

"That is absolutely gorgeous," Her mouth dropped open.

"Congratulations guys," Lincoln said coming up behind her.

"Oh, yeah shit! Congratulations," Georgia said remembering.

"Thank you!" Tom said wrapping his arm around my waist.

We sat around talking for a while until Michelle, Ben and Ruby showed up and Tom went to talk to them. They must have also known about the ring because they came over to look at it. It looks like Tom told everyone about his plan but he didn’t show anyone the actual ring. Noah and Alice soon turned up and they spoke to Mum and Dad. Neither of them asked about my ring.

Our reservation was for 6pm but Aunty Lindsay is always late. 15 minutes later, Lindsay, Andrew and the kids turned up. There were more people than I realised that didn’t know about our engagement. But I wasn’t about to announce it to them now, I was hungry.

So, we went into the restaurant and soon ordered food. It only took about 30 minutes for our food to cook; I ordered my usual Caesar salad. Tom sat on my right, he got a steak burger and Georgia sat on the left. She was eating fish and chips but I wasn’t sure about everyone else.

While we were all eating dinner, Aunty Lindsay asked;

"So, Bron! What did you get for your birthday?"

"Um, I got $100 of George and Linc, a locket from Mum and Dad," I pulled out the locket from around my neck to show them and for the dreaded moment, "And an engagement ring from Tom!"

Noah spat his food everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Everyone stopped eating except Dad. I knew he wasn’t happy about it so I guess he kept eating so he didn’t have to hear the story again. Mum, Georgia and Lincoln all had smiles on their faces but everyone else was just wide eyed, staring at me.
