CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE
2ND POV
11/11/17

"Are you telling us that you are now one with the AllSpark?" . . .

"Above all, do not lament my absence, for in my spark I know that this is not the end . . ."

" . . . but merely a new beginning. Simply put, another transformation."
~

So that was that. Optimus sacrificed himself for Cybertron's future by throwing himself into the Well, and everybody was both depressed and excited. You and the Autobots knew that it had been for the good of the planet, but the Prime had held a special place in everyone's spark.

Because of the Nemesis crash, none of you could stay in it like you'd done before. Instead, you took one of the old Autobot bases nearby to refuge in. Everyone got their own berthroom like before, and got accompanied to their new surroundings quickly.

Ultra Magnus took charge after that, and though he was a great commander, he was no Optimus. Ratchet got his Medbay and begrudgingly started working alongside Knockout. Bulkhead continued with construction, and anyone without an assigned job like so would go on patrol shifts around the planet and report their findings.

Unfortunately, their findings were always nothing. It worried you that your dreams for a new hive may not ever come true. No Insecticons had been spotted, and not even the Predacons could find anything. Speaking of the metallic beasts . . . The Predacons were doing great as they helped out (as allies not subordinates) with anything needed of them. Whether it was assistance with energon scouting or finding out how to shut down a smelting pit, Predaking was determined to be a good ruler. Even if his kingdom really only consisted of two idiot subjects that really, really enjoyed flirting with you.

You weren't sure what Skylynx and Darksteel were thinking, but it got on the nerves of both you and the king. You knew that much, though Ultra Magnus always seemed to be glaring at the two, and it kind of made you wonder . . . Maybe the two thought that they could get the king and queen together to create a growing kingdom? Whatever it was, you didn't want any part of it.

Ultra Magnus actually took you in as a sort of second-in-command! You took charge whenever he left to take care of business, and vice versa. He still called you "your majesty", but that was only when you were around everyone else. He simply called you Y/D when you were alone together, probably because he was too used to being formal to call you by the nickname the other Bots used, which was N/N. A nice ring to it, yes? Knockout kind of overdid it with his creativity as he came up with new ones for you to blush in embarrassment at.

You flew in slowly with your back hunched and your optics half-closed. You landed face first onto your berth in the corner of the room by the small balcony that showed viewed a beautiful part of Cybertron. The metallic cushions felt amazing under you, and you happily sank into them with a sigh. The night sky had fallen like a blanket over Cybertron, and you were completely exhausted from that days work. You'd done a lot of sparring with Arcee as well as speeding around on patrol shifts and dealing with more of the young Predacon duo's "smooth moves".

Your wings were never tired, yet today they hadn't wanted to function as well as usual. You rolled over on your side and onto your tanks again, looking at the sky through the glass of the doors that led to your personal balcony with a tired and bored expression. You rested your chin in your servos with your elbow articulators propping you up.

You would've kept working so no one else had to do a night shift, but Magnus had insisted on you getting a Well-deserved recharge. It brought back memories of when you had once urged him to rest his injured arm while you frantically searched for an exit from the caved-in mine.

You wondered if it brought up those memories in his processor too.

Your optics began to offline while your audio receptors started to tune out the rest of the world, and you slowly began to fall asleep with your helm in your servos. As you unknowingly dozed off, a loud knock snapped you back to reality. The sound wasn't coming from the entrance to your room though, but from the balcony we glossed over multiple times before. You strained your optics to see the details clearer, and the blob that was creepily hanging out on the railing was . . .

"Megatron!" You whispered to yourself in realization. Your wings suddenly found their will to work again and you sped over to open up the balcony doors. You weren't sure what was compelling you to move towards him rather than back away. "Megatron! What are you doing here? I could call the team over, you know."

"I only wish to talk, my dear." He said it so softly and meaningfully as he swung his legs over the railing to come closer to you. The "my dear" part almost made you flinch, but you decided to listen at the very least. You crossed your arms and heaved a sigh as you fluttered closer to the large mech.

"In that case," you told him,"what do you want?"

"You know of my decision to disband the Decepticons, and the Autobots have told you as to why, I'm sure." He began. You nodded in response and let your arms fall to your sides. "I just wanted to see if you were alright. When I saw you last time, you were in an immensely damaged state in Knockout's arms."

"You . . . you just wanted to see me?" You asked, just to be clear. He must be joking! After all Megatron's done to you, he just wants to see you again? "Well, you have now! Is that it?" The ex-warlord could feel the hate radiating off of of you, though he easily understand why.

"I am aware as to why you are angry, and for that, I deeply apologize. It may not mean much to you, but I realize now that you were only bonding with me to taste death, and you should never have to feel that way again. Giving birth to my sparklings upon you would've only made it worse." Megatron explained quietly. You could tell his apology was genuine, and it almost pained you to see him this way.

"I-I accept your apology." You said slowly. Your intake opened to say something else, but no words left it. The ex-gladiator gave a small, sad smile and turned around. Before he could jump off the railing to transform, you placed a hand on his shoulder. "I-er-uh," you didn't know what else to say, "make sure the others don't see you, okay?"

   "I will."
