Beauty?

You can spend your whole life wondering what the definition of beauty is.

People say it's subjective. What I find beautiful might be repulsing to you. I might find an aged face beautiful because each wrinkle represents an experience, a story to tell. But you, you might find an aged face disturbing. Each wrinkle is just another flaw.

People say it's perfection. There mustn't be a chip or scratch. It can't be too thin or too plump. If the cup is chipped, it is ugly. If the plate is scratched, it is to be tossed.

People say beauty is found within. Your pretty reflection does not matter if your heart is as rotten as a corpse. Beauty is being kind to people, loving people, and helping your neighbor.

I'm not sure about all of that but what I am sure of is beauty changes. It's hardly a constant state. A child ages, cutlery breaks, and flowers wilt. So when you look in the mirror today be prepared that tomorrow, you may not be the same.

The real question is will your beauty -inside or out-  enhance or melt away?

And how do you find it?
