Chapter 21: Sans' Confession

Third POV

The time stopped between the two skeleton in the middle of the snowy forest.

Geno was frozen in shock as he stared with wide eye and gaping mouth at Sans who had a serious yet nervous expression on his face.

Anxiously anticipating Geno's answer. Hoping to stars that Geno will say the same.

But Geno was too shocked to even utter a single word. He never expected this. He only saw Sans as a friend. Best friend. He never thought Sans would ever fall for someone as broken and glitched like him.

The silence stretched on and Sans was feeling crushed under the pressure. His soul pounding loud and fast inside his ribcage. He felt the anxiety and fear starting to build up inside him. He needs release. He needs Geno's answer now or else he'll explode!

Maybe those three words wasn't enough.

"Geno," Sans began and Geno snapped back into reality as he blinked and met Sans' eyes. "At first, I though you're just a cruel merciless monster. But then I realized you just wanted to help me. Help me end the genocides. And then I saw how much you cared for me." Sans ranted on. All the things he wanted to say was now bravely pouring out of his mouth. He can't stop. He must not stop.

"I admire you. I looked up to you. I always think about you... And before I knew it, I love you." Sans said tenderly and lovingly with soft but serious eyes.

Geno was rendered silent. He had beads of tears in his eye and lips trembling a bit. Inside him was a swirling mess of mixed emotions. Shock, confusion, fear, anxiety, and most of all... Hesitation.

What about Reaper?

Reaper said he loved him, too. Reaper had done so much for him. Geno didn't want to simply ditch the god of death just because his best friend has confessed. But...

Upon sensing Geno's hesitation, Sans was filled with dread. He fears that he might be too late.

No. Not yet. He's not giving up yet. He's not going to let someone simply snatch Geno away from him.

"Geno, we've known each other since forever. Are you really leaving me for someone who's first intention was to kill you?" Sans asked. Sans was smart. And desperate. He'll do anything to make Geno stay with him but without using force.

The thought of leaving Sans struck Geno like a lightning as he sputtered "wha-? No! I'm not leaving you-!".

"Then stay." Sans nearly commanded, as firm as possible without sounding like a threat. His grip tightens around Geno's arm to show that he's dead serious.

Geno was silent as he stared at Sans in surprise and growing fear. Sans was dominating him. He could feel it. And he's starting to get scared.

"Stay with me." Sans continued on. "Leave him. You don't belong in reapertale. You belong here. This is your universe. This is your home." Sans pointed out.

A sudden realization dawned on Geno. Sans was right. He's not a god. He doesn't belong there. He's just a mortal. Like Sans. And not Reaper.
