Alone

Chapter 14

I wake up alone in the cold bed. I hold my head and sit up. The smell of s'mores fill the room through the cracked door. I listen to the air hum through my ears. The silence, like when I was alone. It still comforts me.

I shoot my head towards the door as I hear screaming. I jump up and run I to Allyson's room. She's screaming, but isn't awake. I'm the first there. I rush over to her and we and shake her awake. I sit on the bed with her as tears stream down her freckled face. I rub her back as she hugs her knees with fright.

"What happened?" Aria asks me. I shrug my shoulders. Austin walks in and stares at me.

"What?" I ask him, his eyes flicker down then back to my eyes. I follow his gaze to my legs, I'm wearing really short shorts.

"RUDE!" Rainy yells. She shoves him out of the room and slams the door shut. We all sit on the bed next to Allyson.

"Are you okay?" I ask her. She nods her head.

"What did you dream about?" Rainy asks softly. Allyson sniffles then wipes the tears off her face.

"I- I saw my parents. They were, one of those.... things." We nod our heads as she tells us her story. "And there was this guy, who saved me from them. They were gonna kill me. ME!" She burst out into tears again. I hug her shoulder and pull her to me.

"Shhh shhh, it's okay...." As soon as I heard what I said, I wished that I hadn't said a lie. I feel her stop shaking as the door opens. Austin is standing in the doorway, his face worried.

Then in a loud whisper he says,

"We've got company."

I jump up off the bed and leave Aria and Rainy to console Allyson. I run out of the room and look out of a hallway window. I open my mouth.

"Oh my gosh, really?" I look over to Austin. "What are we gonna do?" He runs downstairs and comes back up with a gun, an Uzi.

I smile a little. He throws one to me.

"How do I use this?" He glares at me. He walks to me and comes behind me. I shake as he put his hands on mine to guide my hands to the right place. He slowly pulls away from me and softly touches my shoulder and hear him say "You can do it."

I let out the breath I was holding in for that moment. I watch him run into the room with the girls. Aria looks so bad ass with that gun and her jean shorts and tank top. Haha, she always has. Rainy looked like a little girl, but at least she could handle a gun. Allyson looked like she was gonna drop it or something.

Austin pushes us down the stairs, and my shoulder burns where his skin touched mine. He orders us into the basement.

We all follow his orders and get in the basement. We all try to get comfortable in the cold, damp basement. I hold my breath to see if I can hear anything better. I close my eyes as a hear the front door slowly creep open. I feel Austin's fingers curl around mine. I hold my gun tightly in my other hand, still keeping my eyes closed.

Silence fills the dark room. I hear my heart beating in my ears as I don't hear anything. I almost cry when I hear footsteps coming towards the basement.

"Please, no, no, no, please." I almost lose conciseness as door to the basement opens. I wait as I hear the stairs creeping under their feet. I raise my gun as I see movement. I'm about to pull the trigger.

"WAIT!" Allyson yells. "It's you!" She yells as we all Look confused. A blond haired and green eyed guy is standing in front of a group of five other guys.

"You saved me!" She then looks down. "And killed my parents." We all look at her, the only light coming from the upstairs room.

"You were in my dream."
