Alone

Chapter 22

I have to get away from this. I have to run. Right now. No one would care if I left.

I look behind me, into the dark trees, then back at Rainy. She whines as she holds her leg tight. Wagner rips off part of his shirt and ties it around her leg.

I look at Aria and Jason. They are also stunned. Cade is freaking out, walking around in circles. Allyson is holding Rainy as well as Wagner. And me? I'm just standing here, debating if I should run.

I run to Cade and grab his shoulders.

"Cade, can I trust you?" He rolls his eyes and let's out a sigh.

"Just because I left ONE door unlocked doesn't mea-" I cut him off.

"I don't care about that anymore, what's done is done." I raise my eyebrow to make sure he understands me. He nods his head. "I'm leaving. Okay? Don't tell anybody. You have to take care of them. Don't let anybody come after me. I need to be alone.. for a while, understand?" He looks at me in confusion.

"Why would you lea-" I put a finger to my lips.

"No questions, just do it." I nod my head and back away.

Everybody is still nursing Rainy. I turn around and take a step forward. Then run. I hear Jason cry my name. But I can't go back now, that's what cowards do. I'm no coward, I'm no hero, I'm just a trapped little girl.

Jason's P.O.V

I scream Firess's name as she disappears behind the giant trees while Cade holds me back.

"Let her go." He tells me.

A tear streams down my face as I slowly take a step back. I can't believe it. I sit down on the ground.

"My life is over." I say to myself. Aria sits down next to me.

"What's wrong? Where's Firess? Did you tell her? What did she say? What's wrong?" She hugs my shoulder.

"Sh-She's gone." Jason looks back down at the ground. Aria laughs.

"Haha, what?" She says with a smile, deciding whether it not it's true.

I look at her.

"This is no laughing matter!" I yell her. Her smile quickly drops and her eyes flicker from mine, to the trees. "I watched her run away. From me, from us. Cade held me back, so I think he knew." Aria stands straight up.

"CADE!" She yells at him. Better not get in the way of this.

Aria's P.O.V

I rush to Cade and push him back with force.

"What the crap!" I yell at him. I point to the trees.

"You just, let her go?!" His eyes get big, and he backs away.

"I didn't kn-"

"Shut up! I'm not taking any excuses or 'im sorry's! This means someone is gonna die. They are gonna die, tonight. Once someone we love, is gone. The others will slowly die off, from lack of love! You better stay awake tonight." And to make my point, I walk back to Jason, like a boss of course, and sit back down without looking back.

"Wait, are you gonna kill someone?" I look at him.

"I'm not gonna brutally murder someone, that would be wrong, even in a tragic world like this, but leading them to death, isn't too bad, if they live, the live, but if they die, then goodbye.
