Alone

Chapter 21

I rush over to the basement door and yank it open, it's unlocked. I grit my teeth and whip around.

"CADE! YOU IDIOT!" I yell at him. I slow my breathing. "So, uh, Did, you, leave the door unlocked?" He sinks back into the 'crowd'.

I hold my head and fall to the ground.

"He could be anywhere. Just waiting to kill me." I look at the wall and start yelling. "If you're gonna do it, do it right now! Pull the freaking trigger! I can't wait to die!" My head drops and now I whisper. "I can't wait to be with Austin."

I hear footsteps coming closer to me, but other footsteps backing away. I look up to see Cole standing in front of me. I shake my head and drop it again, but he kneels down and grabs my face to make me look at him.

"Firess," He begins. "I'm sorry. I didn't want this to happen." I stare deeply into his eyes, looking at him with disgust.

"Really?" He nods his head, then a smile approaches his. Then slowly, a smile reaches my face.

"Remember when we first met?" I tilt my head.

"Yeah. You saved my life, and I almost killed you." He nods his head. I stare into his eyes again. "But I'll never forgive you." Before he can stop me, I raise my gun and blow his brains in.

Everyone stares at me wide eyed as I wipe blood from my hands and onto my jeans.

I look at all of them back.

"Wow, I won't mess with you." Cade says. I chuckle.

I look down at the body if Cole. Oh how can he play dead? I think back to when I was trapped in that room. I push past the crowd of my people, so they don't see me trying to hold the tears back. I suck it up and turn around.

"Well you aren't gonna just stand there? Let's go!" I yell. They look at each other, and rush past me to get outside.

I close my eyes and lock the door, so in case stalkers do get in, they won't eat Austin or Cole's body. Even though he apologized, I can't forgive him, but it's the least I can do to let him not get eaten.

We get in the order I assigned them to. I clutch my side as we start to run.

"Are you okay?" Jason asks me. I force a smile and let my hand to drop to my side.

"Yep." I say. I lied. I can't lie anymore. To the people I love.

"Firess. Can I tell you something?" I look at his serious face.

"Of course, anything." I say to him.

He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.

"Firess I-" I whip around as I see Rainy has been shot in the leg.

"Gahhh!" Her face and eyes, filled with pain and horror.

"Rainy!" Allyson yells. She rushes to her.

I look to Jason.

"She's not gonna make it. Is she?"
