Adam and Nell Reynolds Smith eyed Cassie and Charlotte as well as Callie and Lexi. Both sets of moms' wondered why Adam and Nell needed them. "What's up?" the four moms' asked.
"Kevin needs a transplant for a kidney and we were wondering if Katie, Keith, Oliver or Olivia could get tested," Nell added.
"What?" Cassie, Charlotte, Callie and Lexi asked.
"If they are a match, maybe one can be donated?" Adam asked.
"Even if they are options what you are asking of us and our kids' is selfish," Cassie asked.
"He is their brother," Adam added.
"So now he is their brother?" Cassie asked. "We need to discuss this with our kids first."
"Let's get tested," the four kids' added.
Adam and Nell are overjoyed as the kids' got tested. It would take weeks for the tests to come back. Cassie, Charlotte, Callie and Lexi waited for the results.
"What if either of them are a match?" Cassie asked.
"Well for one they are too young to donate and we need to give consent," Callie added. "We talked with Oliver and Olivia last night and they don't want to donate if they are a match," they added.
"Their are a lot of Pros and Cons for donating, but more Cons," Callie added.
"Medication for the rest of your life, no sports and other things," Lexi added.
"Katie and Keith are too young to understand," Cassie added.
"True," Charlotte added. "Kevin doesn't even talk with them."
Douglas Maynard got the results and sighed. "I have the results."
"And?" Adam and Nell asked. Douglas sighed and was about to deliver some bad news.
"Oliver, Olivia, Katie and Keith are not matches at all. I ran the test three different times," he added. Adam and Nell were stunned and shocked.
"What? Don't biological siblings have to be?" Adam asked.
"Not all the time and it is rare if they are," Maynard added. "He needs to be put on the kidney transplant list," he added. "That's the only option."
Adam and Nell looked defeated as they left. Cassie, Charlotte, Callie and Lexi were sad as they eyed them leave, but it was bittersweet news.
"Thanks for doing that," Cassie added.
"I didn't lie. They aren't matches," Douglas added. The four moms' nodded sad and left to talk with the two sets of twins.
At the park, "So we aren't matches?" Oliver and Olivia asked.
"No," Callie and Lexi added. "Neither are Katie and Keith."
"So what happens now?" the four kids' asked. The moms' sighed and counted to ten and eyed their respective kids.
"Kevin was put on the National Kidney Transplant list," the four moms' added.
"Oh," Oliver and Olivia added. They knew what the list was since they are taking a class about the body and it's functions and what happens if something is wrong.
"We can be there for him and his family, but we can't donate," the four moms' added as they eyed the kids. "Go play while we talk, alright?"
The two sets of twins nodded as the younger twins went to the play structure followed by Oliver and Olivia to keep an eye on them.
At the Reynolds Smith home, "He probably lied," Nell added.
"Nell! That was mean and not the right thing to say," Adam added. "What if roles were reversed? Would you want Kevin to get tested to see if he was a match for Katie, Keith, Oliver and Olivia?" he asked. That shut her up.
