Elaine Tan was a very successful babysitter, watching kids almost everyday after school or during the weekends. Key word: was. After her brothers disappearance, Elaine stopped babysitting, refusing any offers that her former clients offered. Sulking, Elaine tried to put her energy and focus elsewhere, school. She pushed herself to get A's and nothing but A's. She dropped journalism and theater, leaving her with nothing but time to study.
Tried and exhausted, Elaine managed to get her babysitting company (?) back up and running, only to babysit Dustin Henderson and almost die while doing so.
OR
In which Elaine Tan takes up a babysitting job for the youngest Henderson and gets dragged into a bunch of supernatural events and possibly finds her missing brother in the middle of it all.

- she knows what happened with Will and his disappearance, but only knows that he went missing and was found in the woods days later and wishes that it was her brother that they found instead of Will, I know, selfish but she gets over it, not really
- Elaine is a really good journalist and is a nerd for English and History
- this all should happen mid season 2
- she ends up being Dustin's babysitter and he usually calls her 'Lane' or 'El'
- when Dustin hides Dart in his cellar thing, Elaine is suppose to be watching him but is like ten minutes late and sees Dustin in full gear and he drags her into the shed with him as Dart comes out and later explains everything to her
- Dustin and Elaine fangirl over X-Men and Marvel
- she first meets Steve when she drives Dustin to Hawkins labs
- Dustin was secretly trying to hook Elaine and Steve up ??*
- she also saves Dustin from almost getting his head severed off by the vines in the pumpkin patch tunnel
- i feel like her uncle use to live with them and accidentally left his sword/katana at their house because he was a huge nerd for that kind of stuff and was rushing to move out, so that could be her weapon against the demodogs ?? *
- if you decide that Elaine's brother survives, I think Hawkins should find him after the demogorn dies and when Mike and Joyce sees him, they help him escape with them

- at the Snow/Winter Ball, Elaine goes and helps Jonathan by interviewing people for the schools article/newspaper
- she ends up dancing with Dustin, sorry I just that this would be a really cute moment for Dustin and Elaine
- before it ends, Elaine sees Steve laying on the hood of his car, looking at the stars and she asks if she could join and she does
