SUMMARY :
When it came to the term 'being attached by the hip', four best friends took it quite literally. Athena Carter, Astrid Bellfyre, Poppy De La Cruz, and Diane Laurent spend every waking moment together. They slept over at each other's houses frequently, refused to have any classes without at least one of the other girls in that specific class, and ate lunch together everyday. Everyone in Derry knew them as the 'Four Musketeers', never seen one without the other three. But after Diane goes missing on Halloween night, the other three girls go into a frenzy looking for their best friend. Months after no leads on their missing friend, the remaining musketeers start to give up until Athena's next door neighbor comes knocking on her door covered in scraps and bruises, freaking out about some creature chasing after him. Dragging Athena, Poppy, and Astrid into something that they won't be able to recover from.

- the title is the Three Musketeers instead four because Diane goes missing very early in the book so it's just the remaining three left
- Athena Carter is the groups comic geek + mom of the group, Astrid Bellfyre is the groups ditz + chill one, & Penelope 'Poppy' De La Cruz is the groups joker + dare devil
- ^ Astrid is a bit introverted while Athena + Poppy are extroverted/more outgoing
- the girls are devastated when they hear the news about Diane's disappearance & deny it for a long time, which causes some tension + distance to happen between the three friends
- all four girls live on the same street & sleepover at one of the girls house every night
- Eddie is the one that knocks on Athena's door after he sees the leech
- ^ he helped tutor her in science when she needed help & they become semi friends
- Athena's fear should probably be love (her father left her & her mother when she was younger and the last thing he said was, "I love you" & now she relates that phrase to something that traumatized her when she was younger) Poppy's should be something related to Hispanic folklore. For example, the El Chupacabra Astrid's should be failing, her parents are very strict on grades & school related stuff
- when the Losers meet the Musketeers, Richie & Poppy hit it off because of their loud + obnoxious nature (she says the phrase in the description when Richie ask what she was afraid of)
- ^ but they don't like each other because my baby Poppy is a lesbian & is infatuated with Beverly Marsh
- ^^ Stan and Athena are a slow burn because of her fear of love, but they do get together in the end
- ^^^ Mike & Astrid have known each other for a while because her uncle is the butcher for Derry's local meat shop and she works there during breaks. So whenever Mike comes to drop off meat, she's usually sitting in the front window reading. They met when she accidentally bumped into him during spring break and spilled tea all over his shirt, she offered to buy him a new one. Just a pure and smol relationship!
- when the girls find out that Pennywise has killed Diane, they end up crying for days & taking a long break from being together (this is when Richie & Bill have the big fight)
- ^ they make up at the end before they go to the Neibolt House when Bev goes missing
- @ the blood oath, Athena & Stan walk home together where they confess their feelings & decide to go slow for both of their sakes
- ^ Poppy and Bev don't end up together because of *cough* Bill. :(
- ^^ Mike and Astrid already started semi seeing each other before the blood oath had taken place
