Chapter 43

I sit on the kitchen stools, a warm blanket wrapped around my cold shoulders. A steamy mug is centered in between my hands, the warm mist of hot cocoa clearing my sinuses.

"What were you thinking? Why didn't you wait for me?" Chanyeol says, pacing back and forth.

Ha Na stands sheepishly in the corner of the room. I narrow my eyes at her, "I can't believe you told him..."

"Don't go blaming her, (y/n)! What you did was not safe! You were out of your mind with anger, why didn't you wait for me!" Chanyeol scolds, leaning over the counter into my face.

I lower my head, a tear streaming down my face.

"I thought we were supposed to do this together..." he mumbles.

I lift my eyes, "of course we are!"

"Then why did you go alone?!"

I hold my breath. Tension hangs in the air, and the only thing I can hear is Chanyeol's heavy breathing from in front of me.

"I love you, (y/n). I don't want anything to happen to you," he lifts my chin up in his hands, "I want to know that you will be safe."

I close my eyes, biting down on my lip, "I'm sorry."

Chanyeol wraps his arms around me, squeezing me tightly, "I just don't want anything to happen to you. If I'm not there, I can't protect you."

"I don't know why she would ever do that...she almost killed me."

Ha Na gets up from her spot and walks over, "I never heard of this side of her."

"Do you want to talk about it?" Chanyeol asks.

"She said something about a stalker...someone that followed her and she didn't want it to get to me and my father...but then why would she go to Ha Na?" I explain.

"Mother has been having a hard time these past couple of years...last year she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's," Ha Na admits.

"So, what does that mean? Whatever she said could be a lie?" Chanyeol asks.

Ha Na nods her head.

"I don't know...she seemed to be telling the truth, but if it's true it makes no sense!" I gripe.

Ha Na lifts a comforting hand, "it will be alright, (y/n). I will try and talk to her. hopefully I can understand what is going on."

"Thank you," I say.

She leaves and Chanyeol carries me to the couch, wrapping me into a blanket like a burrito. He turns on the T.v. and then walks to the kitchen.

"Where are you going?" I complain, stuck on the couch.

"I'm going to make you food," he answers. I hear him ruffling around through the kitchen, opening cabinets and drawers.

He hums to himself and I close my eyes, trying to invision what he is doing while he hums. After a while, he walks back in the living room and kneels in front of me with a plate full of galbi. He picks up a piece and brings it to my mouth, saying "ah."

I open, mimicking the noise as he places the piece in my mouth. I chew the good food, feeling my stomach rumble louder.

"Is it good?" he asks.

I nod, my mouth still full of meat.

After I finish the whole plate, he walks in and puts on a comedy movie. Chanyeol helps me out of the blanket and wraps it around the both of us, his body keeping me warm.

"I'm thirsty," I complain and he grabs the bottle of water from the side table, bringing the straw to my mouth.

"You're too good to me," I say, kissing him on the lips.

He chuckles, "I know."
