Your POV

My eyes flutter open to see a completely white room. I hear a slow beeping noise and look to see an IV running from my arm to a machine. I try to turn my head, but when I do, a dagger of pain rushes through my brain. I squeeze my eyes shut, and it passes away.

To my left, Chanyeol is holding my hand, his head resting on the bed. I lift my hand from his and brush through his hair gently to let him know that I am awake. His head raises and he rubs his eyes, his cheeks stained with dry tears.

My mouth turns into a small smile, seeing his face. He places his arms around me gently, and kisses me, enveloping me with himself. He holds me in his arms, "I was so worried..." he whispers into my hair.

"How long have I been here?" I ask.

"Only a few hours..." he admits, "the doctor said that you only have a concussion."

"And the baby?"

He pauses, "they haven't said anything yet, but I'm sure it will be fine," he reassures, grabbing my hand.

I nod a little, my stomach twisting with fear. Please be alright

We hear footsteps, and the doctor enters the room. His face is blank, but I can tell from his eyes that something is wrong.

"Is everything alright?" I ask.

"I'm glad to see that you are awake Mrs. Park. We still need to run a few tests before we can get a final result...Mr. Park would you be able to come with me?" the doctor asks.

Chanyeol stands and I grab his hand, feeling as if I might throw up. He gives me a reassuring smile, and a kiss on the head before he leaves the room. I am left by myself with my own terrible thoughts. I hear a low volume of music playing over the speakers and I close my eyes, trying to focus on the sound of strings and keys, rather than the pounding of my own thoughts.

In an hour, Chanyeol comes back, and takes a seat back beside me.

"What happened?" I question.

"They just took some blood and a swab...not much. Don't worry too much, (y/n)," he says with little confidence. I can tell by his eyes that he doesn't believe a word he just said.

I nod a little, as I hold his hand tightly. The doctor comes in an hour later, a clipboard in his hand. Chanyeol has been pacing the room for the last 30 minutes, and it's beginning to make me anxious.

"Mr. Park, if you could have a seat please," the doctor suggests.

Chanyeol sits down beside me, his fingers tapping nervously on his thigh. My stomach churns.

"After the ultrasound, we were not able to find any fetal tissue. Your baby did not make it, I am very sorry..." he says.

My heart stops. I stare at the doctor, hoping that this is a cruel joke. That my baby is not dead. But it never comes.

What did I do wrong?

Chanyeol grabs my hand, as tears roll down my face. I place my head in my hand, trying to seem strong. Chanyeol's eyes overflow with tears, and he bring me closer.

"W-what did I d-do wrong-g?" I stumble over the words.

"You did nothing wrong, (y/n), it's not your fault," Chanyeol says.

"After further testing, we concluded that the sperm has a high incident of abnormal chromosomes...this means that producing a child is impossible, I am very sorry."

I look at Chanyeol, whose jaw is clenched and eyes are filled with sadness, "so you're saying that because of me, we lost and won't ever be able to have a child?"

The doctor gives a slight nod, "It is a very rare medical condition...there's nothing we can do, I am very sorry."

Chanyeol lets go of my hand and rushes out of the room. I call after him but he doesn't listen.

"I will get you signed out, and will make an appointment to check up on you and to talk about your options..." the doctor explains, taking out my IV

"Will Chanyeol be okay? Have you ever seen this?" I ask.

"No, I believe he will be fine physically...but you may want to schedule an appointment with a psychologist soon—for both of you. Losing a child is vey hard on people, and even on marriages."

I nod, "thank you."
