I walked into the quartz building. I saw a huge row of lockers lined up on the walls.

Now, I get a bit of Mom's negativity. Where am I supposed to go?

I stared down at my schedule written in pink gel pen.

"What's your first class?" A girl with a high pitched voice asked. I jumped up not realizing that she was watching me. She had hair that looked like the color of sapphires. "I can guide you around, you look new and startled."

"Huh? Oh, I'm sorry! I have..."

I looked down at the pink cursive. "I have English first."

"Me too! Funny coincidence, I'll lead you there!"

"Thanks, what's your name?" I asked.

"Dawn, great to meet you. What's yours?"

"Serena."

"That's so beautiful! Wish my parents were that amazing."

"I love your name, Dawn." I giggled, as we walked off into some corridor. Dawn shrugged at the comment.

"Oh! I guess you don't know about the Pokemon Card competition at Kanto," Dawn exclaimed, wanting to change the subject. Her hands moved around while she talked.

"Huh? No, I don't."

"Well basically, you have your Pokemon Cards that you collect right? Then after school from 4-6, there's a tournament, but a competitive one. Almost everybody here does it because you feel like a real Pokemon trainer!" Dawn blurted out. Her eyes were sparkling with entertainment by just talking about the competition.

"Oh really?" I asked. "I always wished I was a Pokemon trainer."

"Yeah, wish our world was that cool," Dawn said in a sarcastic tone.

I thought in my mind a bit of guilt. I wasn't going to tell her that secret, we literally just met."Too bad we live on Earth." I sighed, as I looked out the windows on the outer edges of the hallway.

"This way, Serena," Dawn said, as she tapped my shoulder.

"Sorry, first day, been looking- oh wait I already told you it was my first day, I'm such a pile of nonsense right now, I can't talk."

"No no no, don't worry about it. We all have those days. Alright, it's this door, I'll introduce you to Professor Oak." Dawn exclaimed and opened the classroom doors.

It looked like those doors that people in restaurants have when they have to go into the kitchen."Follow me," Dawn said, as she walked up to the professor. I followed.

"Why hello there Dawn, who's this new girl?" He asked, his white lab coat overlapping his body."Hi, I'm Serena," I explained. "As you concluded, I'm new here."

"Well, that's great. You can sit in any seat you'd like."

"Alright," I smiled.

The classroom looked like any other classroom that I've ever seen a picture of. Just a room with a chalkboard and tables. Chairs were attached to the desks with metal bars.

I looked at the walls and then I saw a picture of the Professor when he looked young. A usual blondie boy with Pokemon cards in his hands.

Looks like this college really cares about their Pokemon, but why care so much? I love them a lot, but I've never met a community before that cares about them as much as I do.

"Hello, students!" Professor Oak called, as he walked up to the front of the room. "The bell rang so do you know what that means? It means that-"

"Sorry, I'm late!" A boy who's raven black hair was blowing wildly yelled as he ran into the room. "My girlfriend took way too long getting ready!"

"It means that Mr. Ketchum is late once more," Professor Oak sighed. "I was hoping you'd become different this year, Ash."

"Looks like I'll stay like the Ash you've been teaching for 2 years." Ash fired back, his caramel eyes blazing with determination and confidence.

"Sure, whatever, you can sit next to the new girl, Serena."

"Okay!" Ash yelled as he sped over to me.

"So, I guess your name is Ash?" I asked as he sat down at the desk next to me.

"Yep."

"Cool!" I called.

Professor Oak moved his head towards me.

"Serena, I know you were homeschooled for most of your life, but don't you have enough common sense to know to not scream during class?"

"Sorry."

"Well students, now that that's out of the way, we can get back to actual English class."

Everybody including me groaned, and then we listened to learn the difference between independent clauses and dependent clauses, which everybody knew already. Ughhhh... now I think Mom might be right, this place is so boring. Whatever Serena, something eventful has to happen today, right?

"Miss Serena, what's the answer to my question?"

"Independent?"

"Correct, good job."

I didn't even know what the question was.
