All of the Lights are taught that the Shadows are the enemies- they're evil and don't care for anyone but themselves. And most importantly, never make physical contact with one, ever. Lights are privileged people that supposedly have perfect lives. They were taught that they are the good, and they kind of are, but later they will find out about the past and why things are the way they are, and why they have to change it.
The Shadows are supposedly the uncivilized bad people. They aren't. Of course right off the bat, their side doesn't look that well, they might not have good schools, and it's hella dark, it's not the worst. There are good people. There are bad and worse people, but some of them are there and don't want to be, and shouldn't. They are taught to despise the Lights, and to never make contact with them. To be bad, to be terrible and horrific. But kindness and compassion pierces through some of them, a perfect time for change.
Also, the world is split into two realms- Day and Night, and it's separated by a Fence. Idk where it splits exactly but I'm not a geographer so.... Enjoy!
