Chapter 2: living dead

A loud scream echoed through the halls. I froze up
"What is this some kind of a sick joke?" I looked at Lisa who looked really pale
"I don't know y/n" she held onto my hand
Another scream. Silence. Then another
The whole class looked deep in schock even the teacher. What the hell was happening?
The teacher was the first one to snap out
"Everybody stay ca-" she was interupted by kids that started running out and making a chaos in the classroom. If those things are in our school than who knows what fate awaited and I wasn't going to stick around to find out

My blood started rushing as my veins filled with adrenaline. I rushed out of the classroom and I could feel Lisa was right behind me.
As soon as I took a step out of the classroom I froze.
A girl was laying in the middle of the hallway and I swear I will never forget the look on her face. It was pure terror. A silent scream stuck in her mouth as blood was dripping down her chin. Her eyes wide open as she was desperately looking for help before the thing got her. And now she was dead

"Y/n let's go" Lisas voice shook me out of my trance. Everyone in the hall were too scared to move as they just helplessly watched the thing slowly devour the young girl

I slowly nodded still not taking my eyes off of the horrible scene. I felt a lump in my throat rise. We needed to get out of this place but I couldn't think straight. I felt dizzy and my legs threatened to give up

"Y/n we need to move" Lisa desperately shaked me by my hand and she started dragging me away

"Y/n, Lisa! Oh thanks god you're safe" Jin suddenly ran out of one of the classrooms pulling me and Lisa into a hug. He pulled away inspecting me if I had any bruises. Jin had always been like an older brother to me. I chucled
"Im fine" I reassured him
"Then come with me" he took us both into one of the classrooms barricading the door behind him

My heart was racing. I heard kids screaming in either terror or agony.
How could something like this be even possible? Man-eating monsters? Our whole world was falling to peaces and we just sat the watching it burn

With us in the room there were a group of about 12-18 other students, either crying or hunched up in small groups. Jin was desperately trying to calm down a sobbing girl

"W-we can't stay here" Lisa suddenly spoke up. Even if she was scared her voice didn't betray her
"If we stay here sooner or later they're gonna come after us" she spoke to the group
"I-im not going out there" the girl that Jin was comforting protested
"Look she's right" Jin stated calmly. I've always admired how Jin was able to stay calm under pressure. That was one of the many thing that I felt jealous of
"If those things came this far they have probably infested this half of the city" he started thinking loudly "so that means we only have one escape and we have to go far from here" he looked at the group of students "our only hope of surviving is if we can get into the backyard and drive out in one of the school busses. I know, sounds crazy, but it's our only hope..."

I went silent. I knew that going out there was suicidal but we couldn't stay here either. We had to make our choice now

"We'll need weapons" i spoke up for the first time in a while. Jin nodded when another voice pearced the small silence

"You must be crazy" a kid that I had art class with, Taehyung, if I recall correctly, chuckled
"You want to just drive out in the school bus?" He raised his eyebrows " then what about our families? We're just gonna leave our homes?" He looked around searching for others agreements. "I'm sorry but I can't do that" he shook his head "I'm staying behind" he looked at Jin
Jin just sadly nodded
"Thats your choice Tae"
'They must have known each other' a thought ran trough my head

Five minutes later we were ready for our plan. Well what am I kidding. I was probably never ready. Some kids had glass shards ar some form of weapons and two boys ripped off legs of chairs. Not much but still not empty handed.

I chuckled looking at our small army. About 10 students stood waiting for Jins command.
Tae had decided to stay back. I didn't notice how Lisa came up to me

"What are the odds that well make it out alive?" She looked at me sadly
"I don't know Lis" i rested my head on her shoulder "let's just hope for the best
I looked back at Taehyung
"Stay safe" I smiled goodbye. I was probably never gonna see this kid again
"Everyone gather round" Jin commanded as he slowly opened the door
