Pov Nathan
Ding dong! I stood up and walked towards the front door. Angela pulled out an earplug and looked at me with a confused gaze.
"Who's coming to visit this time of day?" she asked rather suprised.
"Jason" I smiled as I opened up the door. Max ran inside and Chrissy shot up from her nap. I was so glad they got along, otherwise it would be such a struggle.

"H-hey" he said and got in.
"Thanks for letting me come over this late"
"What? Are you kidding?" I laughed.
"It's not a problem"
"Surely not for his boyfriend!" Angela yelled from the living room. I shrunk a little and turned bright red. Omg why did she say something like that?! This was so embarassing! Jace chuckled lightly but I saw something was seriously bothering him. I sighed and placed his arms on my hips.

"Hey, what's up?"

He sighed and looked me in the eye. He just opened his mouth but no sound came out. I could see tears in his eyes and before I knew it I kissed him. He kissed back softly and carefully, like I could break if he was to rough. It didn't lasted very long though... A bright flash made Jason pull back and I looked aside. Angela was giggling like a fangirl with her phone in her hand.

"You two look so cute! This pic is so perfect"
"Angela!" I complained.
"Even with flash?! Come on!"
"It's dark here, it goes automaticly!" she laughed.
"Perfect for what exactly?" Jace asked and took Angela's phone without a struggle. He seemed to inspect the picture with critisism, like he needed to approve.
"You have my number" he stated and gave the phone back to my sister.

"Wait what?" I asked confused and looked between the two.
"I added him on all my social media and gave him my number, just in case" she smiled and winked at me.
"In case of what?" I asked and frowned.
"Oh, nothing" she laughed and went back to the living room. I stared at the spot that she had just left and closed my eyes for a second. Sisters... Ugh, you could just never get a break from them.

When I looked back at Jace his smile had already faded. He looked so worried...
"Maybe we should cancel our date this weekend..." I thought out loud.
"What? Why?" Jace asked immediately.
"Oh uhm well, it's gonna trigger a lot of people when they find out that we are... you know... dating..." I sighed.
"You know how people are here... It's not like in the city Jason"

"You think that I don't know that?" he asked and clenched his fists.
"You think I don't know how people react? The looks they give you? The shame? My father is the most homophobic person I know Nathan. I have to hide myself every single day and the only person I can be myself with is you. That's why I want to be around you, to protect you. I-I really like you and I really want to go out with you. I don't care what others think anymore! I'm done hiding!"

Tears streamed down his cheeks and he whistled for Max.
"I shouldn't have come here" he cried while wiping his tears away. He took Max his leash and whistled for him.
"No, Jace, I didn't mean it that way, please don't go" I started but there was no going back. He put Max on the leash and stared at me with a cold gaze. It was absolutely silent, I couldn't take this much longer.

"I need to go, my parents are probably wondering why I am taking so long" he stated and walked outside the door with his little black stalker behind him. He said he really liked me... Does that means that he figured it out? That he wants to be more than just friends? Who am I kidding, I completely screwed up! Now he thinks I don't want to go out with him anymore... He's just worried about me... Why did I need to say that out loud?! I'm so stupid!

...

"Everything okay?" Angela asked and my head shot up.
"Did Jace leave already? Well that was quick... You didn't have a fight or anything, did you?"
"Everything is fine" I hissed and went to my room. Why did she always needed to know everything? I shouldn't have told her about Jace in the first place than I might not had this problem now...

I sighed and fell onto my bed. When I looked aside I saw a bunch of books from school and realised I hadn't even started homework. Not that I really cared anyway, I had good grades so the teachers won't bother me about forgetting to make a few exercises. I took my phone and read the last text from Jace. Yeah see ya soon <3... His last text would always end with a heart the last few days and it made me smile every time.

-I'm sorry about saying we shouldn't go out...
-I'm just scared of peoples reactions ya know
...
-Wow I'm such a pussy...
-Guess I just want to leave you out of it? Cause if people know about your secret than they might get to you to and I don't want that to happen
-Oh look at that I'm also overprotective ahahah XD
-Nah it's actually kinda cute ;)
-So ya not mad or anyting??
-Not as long as we're still gonna see that movie this weekend
-Oh I'll be there don't worry ;)
-Great, I cant wait <3

I smiled to my screen and let my phone drop beside me. I couldn't possibly imagine a life without Jace anymore... Ever since we've met, everything changed. Peter kept his distance, Emily's control weakened... He made my life so much better and I feel like I owe him. Like I should make his life better as well. But I can never do that...

The only thing he really wants is his brother but I can't return him. I can't bring back the death... Nobody can. I sighed and stared at my ceiling. What should I do mom? How can I keep Jason happy? He's so broken on the inside, I can see it. He has scars from the past like everybody else but he's afraid to show them. His scars are exactly that. His. And I've got the feeling he'd want to keep it that way.

Even though he opened up a little bit I know there are so many things he hasn't told me yet. Things that I wouldn't even expect of him... Because Jason rather fights someone else's battle than his own. A lonely knight who keeps risking his life for others without thinking of himself. It's self destructive... I sighed and closed my eyes. What should I do mom? How can I help him? Make him open up to me? I don't want to lose him...
