Fun fact: all of these cats are named after my own cats

"Okay, little guy, you have to be quiet or else you'll end up back on the streets." I whispered to the small kitten in my jacket pocket. It's big green eyes just stared up at me, her long whiskers twitched and she liked her pink nose. "And stop being so cute!"

I slowly opened the apartment door, a small creek coming out of the old hinges. "Babe, I'm home from work!"

"Y/n!" My name was called from the living room, followed by a large thump, a smaller crash, and then my amazing girlfriend running into the hall.

"Calm yourself!" I say to her as she wraps her arms around me.

"But you've been gone forever!" Her grip on me tightens, and I worry for the kitten.

"Is 7 hours forever now?" I hadn't even been at work that long. I got off early.

"Yup." Peggy smiled and gave me a peck on the lips. "You are never leaving me alone in this house again."

The thing was, my job was outside, in the scary outside world, while Peggy got to work from home. This made her lonely half the day.

Hence my I was now carrying a small kitten in my pocket.

Speaking of kittens hiding in pockets, something just meowed.

Peggy looked at me, and then down at her pocket. She then pulled a fluffy black and white kitten from her hoodie pocket.

"He was outside the door..." She sighed and set the small cat on the hardwood floor, where he slipped around my feet.

"Well do I have news for you," I smiled and pulled out my own gray tabby kitten.

We stared at each other in disbelief.

As I was holding my own kitten, a small squeak was heard. Neither of the kittens had done it, and this led me to belive she was hiding a third kitten somewhere. She denied all claims.

So I opened the front door, where I had yet to move from, and a soaking wet cat ran into the house.

This was just great.

How could this get any better?

Oh I know!

As this larger cat was running inside, I left the door open, allowing another kitten to run inside.

"Peggy, we can not keep four cats." A few hours later, I sat my girlfriend down for a family meeting.

"Three kittens and their mom," She corrected me.

"That doesn't make it any better!" I glared at her from my side of the couch.

Mama Cat was now Sitting on my lap, with Callie, the theirs kitten, an all gray female, curled on top of her. Peggy had Zeus, the black and white one, and Sterling, the gray tabby.

"But look at how happy they are here!" She gestured to the sleeping cats.

"Okay, I'll make you a deal," She raised an eyebrown, silently telling me to go on, "we can keep the cats-"

"YES!"

"You didn't let me finish!"

We both laughed for a moment, while trying not to wake the sleeping family of furry animals.

"You can keep the cats, if you marry me."

"What?"

I slowly move off Mama and her baby, setting them onto the couch. While she was still trying to figure out what I said, I kneeled down in front of her, and pulled out the small black box holding the ring from my jacket pocket

"Peggy, I love you, and want to spend the rest of my life with you. So, will you make me the happiest person ever, and marry me?"

Small tears fell from her soft cheeks, and only went faster when she started to nod her head.

"Yes! Yes! Oh my god yes, I will marry you Y/n!"
