Historical accuracy? Never heard of her.

Writing the longest fic in this book? Have heard of her.  (2600 words yay)

A happy ending? Never heard of her.

"chéri, please, stay," I clung to his arm, tears falling from my eyes onto his blue coat.

"Mon amour, I can't. I need to go and fight," his eyes held tears, but they did not fall. He was a solider and soldiers don't cry.

I tightened my grasp on him, "this is not your fight. You can stay, let the British fight the colonies, not France."

He shook me off his arm and stepped away from me, to the door, "if we don't help them, then there will be no more colonies."

-------

I slept alone that night, I knew Lafayette would not be joining me tonight, and if he were to, I would get no words from him. I had angered him, unfairly told him not to go. I was being a selfish wife, I knew I was.

"Venez avec moi s'il vous plaît,"  his voice sounded like heaven in this moment, it brought me back to the world and back to our room, where he stood. (Come with me, please)

"Je ne peux pas Tu le sais,"  I told him, turning in the bed to face him as I did so. (I can't, you know that)

He sighed and walked over to me, sitting next to me on the bed. I took is hands in mine and held them close to me, my eyes closed as he spoke to me, "Tout ira bien, je peux te protéger et protéger le bébé." (Everything will be fine,, Ill protect you and the baby)

"Je connais. Ce n'est tout simplement pas sécuritaire pour moi dans les colonies. C'est un combat d'hommes." He gave my hand a kiss and sat them in his lap. (I know. It's just not safe for me in the colonies. This is a mans fight)

"Je me fiche de qui se bat, je te veux à mes côté," He mumbled the last bit, slightly embarrassed was my guess. (I don't care who's fight it is, I want you by my side)

I nodded my head and pulled him down on the bed to lay next to me, "Quand le bateau part?" (when does the ship leave?)

-------

I had my suitcase packed and my best dress on. I watched as Lafayette got himself into his soldiers wear, which he insisted on wearing. As much as I hated to see him in those clothes, I wouldn't deny how handsome he looked.

"chéri..." I whined to him. If he took much longer we would miss the ship.

He chuckled and buttoned up the rest of his coat. He turned to me, eye brows raised and a smirk on his lips. "You are so difficult sometimes."

Oh tu sais que tu m'aimes encore." I walked over to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. (Oh you know you still love me)

-------

"Monsieur Lafayette," General Washington addressed my husband,  shaking his hand as he did so. I was surprised to see him turn to me, "manquer L/n."

I smiled and gave a small curtsy to him.  I felt out of place among these people. I dressed like them, I could even somewhat talk like them, but this wasn't where I belonged. This ball seemed silly and uneeded. It was thrown by Washington to celebrate the arrival of the French. His higher up troops attended with their wives.

It was were I met Eliza, the only other pregnant woman in attendance. She enjoyed talking to me, and in the little time that I knew her, I learned she was a very caring woman. She even spoke a little French.
